crisis of frozen death

Every since the Racoon city incident the global pharmaceutical giant umbrella, had been battling in court to prove that it had no involvement in Racoon cities unfortunate destruction, but due to umbrellas influence in government and individuals as well as deep pockets no conviction had yet been made. However it had suffered publicly, as such it stock had dropped and the majority of the company was in upheaval. Umbrella had tried to win over the “people” with a number of aid initiatives to improve less fortunate people. This was of course the public face of Umbrella.
Behind the scenes Many of Umbrellas best researchers had mysteriously disappeared or left to join rival companies. Also many of Umbrellas B.O.W.s and other bio-weaponry had been “misplaced” many of which were floating around the black market on sale to groups globally. Umbrella had little care for the well being of citizens in general but losing its research material and assets was a major concern. As such many smaller facilities were closed and materials moved to larger sites. Umbrella Asia, Umbrellas Asian branch had four sites in China, all of these sites had their research data, researchers, B.O.W.s and other assets moved to a single smaller site before being moved to a secure site deep in Siberia. The site being used temporarily to hold all this was a smaller research site a few miles east of Lake Khanan in Russia near the Chinese northern border. For 28 hours before materials were all moved north the combination of all of Umbrellas research committed in China over the past 20years would be held.

This was a true once in a lifetime opportunity. Umbrella had several major rival companies all who would be glad to have Umbrellas technology no matter the cost. All of these companies had some form of unit designed to retrieve materials from rival companies and suppress biohazard incidents. One of these companies was tipped off by a well paid informant within Umbrella of the transport of Materials. The operation to retrieve this material was organised and a unit sent to retrieve it. This unit was made up of a mixture of ex-soldiers, mercenaries and war criminals as well as former Umbrella soldiers. The site itself was mainly underground, considering how much material of value was inside the site was not heavily protected. It consisted only of a few armed personnel patrolling the sites extremities. There even less than the entire team assembled to retrieve the materials at the site. The plan was to split the group into three teams, alpha team would first drop in after an air drop, Beta would provide mortar and sniper cover from afar and act as communications and a reserve unit if the need arose. The third team Gamma would then infiltrate underground and secure the materials. A good plan, but it wasn`t that simple.
The plan was good but immediately the teams ran into troubles. The first team dropped in successfully but strangely there were no guards and the security systems were all out. The second team positioned itself successfully as well but the equipment was damaged. The third team the back was the only team not in position. They were dropped west of the position they were supposed to go too. So Gamma team was immediately moving towards the sight to make up for the time wasted.
Unfortunately the Alpha team went out of contact shortly after securing the site, Beta was blaming the damaged equipment and Gamma team’s new orders were to enter the site and re-establish communication with Alpha team and describe the current situation. Immediately upon entering the compound it was clear something was wrong. There was nothing, no Alpha team, no security, no lights, nothing. Gamma team reported in the scene to Beta team, who had been running scans. “Caution advised, several heat signatures around your current position, over”, “Are they B.O.W.s? Over”. “Unknown, possible defence based B.O.W.s, over” “Ok caution towards B.O.W.s surrounding are current location, continue cover fire, over”.
The site itself was mainly underground and the entrance into the labyrinthine system of tunnels was a simple lift. Under normal conditions to enter the lift several security checks would have been made to verify the identity of the individual requesting its use. However with so much extra material under guard it would have been expected to have extra security in place but the opposite was the current situation, no guards and no security systems active. Reactivating the lift to enter inside was not difficult but the atmosphere was tense, Alpha team was currently K.I.A. and B.O.W.s of some sort were nearby and to top it off communications with Beta team kept going offline due to damaged equipment.
