Control Issues with RE4 and RE0 HD Remaster

Haven't seen many people mention this issue, so I thought I'd share it here just in case anyone else has experienced anything similar with any of the latest Resident Evil remasters.

So sometime before the release of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, I decided I wanted to finish my Professional playthrough of the original for the last achievement that I had abandoned years prior after feeling burnt out on the game. I picked the game back up from Ashley's segment and was having an extremely hard time. Suddenly, the game just felt unplayable. I had even wondered if the game had just become so dated that I could no longer adapt, which sounded crazy to me considering how many times I've run through the game in the past.

Then I realized something. The only thing that had changed between the last time I had played it and then was the console I was playing on. I had originally played the game on the Xbox One, yet for some reason, the game would only register the up, down, left, and right movements on the analog stick on my Series X. Anytime I'd try to move diagonally or pivot the characters movement mid-stride they would come to a complete stop, making movement incredibly stiff and cumbersome.

The console was obviously not the issue, so I borrowed my brother's controller and it solved the issue entirely. My controller works perfectly fine with any other game so it's not an issue of stick drift like I unfortunately have with my 20th Anniversary controller. I tried to Google the issue and found I wasn't alone but it's odd that only specific controllers have this issue.

Fast forward to August of this year, I was finally playing the Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster and I found the gameplay to be a little clunky. Character movements wouldn't carry on from room to room, forcing me to restart the action for movement to register. It would even happen in regular gameplay and somehow I managed to beat the game just fine but with the false critique that the game was clunkier than REmake.

Earlier this month, I had started the game back up to unlock the rest of the achievements, starting with Leech Hunter, and this clunky stop and restart movement became a real problem. My brother had been playing the game at the same exact time so I called him up and asked if the game was feeling off to him too, to which he replied he had no issue. So I borrowed his controller again and in my first try with this control, completed Leech Hunter, and got the rest of the game's achievements.

Again, I have used this same controller to play literally everything else I have on Xbox, including all the new release Resident Evil games and I've had no issues whatsoever. For some reason, these 2 Capcom/Resident Evil ports have this very odd and specific problem. I don't know if anyone has experienced this on Playstation or not, but my original Series X controller is just not compatible with these games.
 
Capcom can be criticized for shoddy ports (See Revelations, RE4 classic and RE5 PC for reference). Personally though, I have played RE1R remaster and RE0 remaster just fine with modern controllers but this was on Steam. Your issue could be a reflection of Capcom's faulty porting or it be faulty hardware. Either is plausible.

Recently, I have had an issue with controllers crapping out in a short lifespan and had to send them back. I am stubborn and stupid so it took 3 controllers from 3 different brands to finally realize that they just make them crappy these days and do not put much care in them anymore, unless you pay for a top tier one.

It's honestly probably more worth it to invest in mobile devices these days, which includes both smart phones and hand held devices*, as they are now storming the market and consumers are coming to conclusions that consoles are becoming obsolete and offering minimal fidelity improvements per generation and are running into performance caps, and having hardware issues like what you are describing. PC gaming (laptops, desktops) is becoming way too costly for the average consumer these days.

*I am not just talking about Nintendo Switch, I mean lots of companies are now offering portable PC's with adequate performance reasonable costs, which can be deduced as being the best option these days, with all factors considered.
