Resident Evil 5 Checkpoints

I recently went back to beat a time more efficiently to get the 5 hour run through on normal. I was on the final battle with Wesker and he was ****ing me off, so, as I usually do on shooter games, I went back to train up and get some more money to upgrade my weapons. Unfortunately, when I restarted 6-3, it started me off in the engine room. Is there any way to move to checkpoint in a chapter after restarting it?

Everytime you leave the game and start another chapter you will lose unsaved progress... and no theres no way u can get back precisely where you dropped off...

dang it... i dont wanna fight those gatlin gun people again. I'm not returning to that level until I have all of my upgraded weapons. IM GONNA KILL THEM IN ONE HIT

I was disapointed they didnt include typewriters in the game. Its always been included in the main RE titles and was disapointed they werent there.
