If you have a USB (wired) headset all you need to do is plug it in to one of the front ports on your console and you will be able to talk and have people hear you while you play.

If you have a bluetooth headset, follow these instructions:

  • Make sure your Bluetooth headset is fully charged before you begin.

  • Check your headset instructions for entering "pairing mode". Activate your headsets' "pairing mode" so it can be recognized by the PS3.

  • On the Cross Media Bar (or XMB) of the PS3 go to the "Settings" tab, then down into "Accessory Settings", then down into "Manage Bluetooth Devices".

  • With your headset in pairing mode, follow the onscreen instructions and let the PS3 scan for your headset. When your headset is found, follow the prompts and enter a pass key (if necessary- the default is usually 0000 for all brands). The pairing should now be complete.

I've paired mine up. It works on other games like Call of duty 4. But I don't know how it works on Resident Evil 5. Me and my friend tried talking to each other using blutooth wireless headset but we couldn't hear each other. Is there a button you have to press or option to switch it on?

No, you shouldn't have to press anything, it should work automatically. There's only been a few times where my headset would inexplicably stop working and I just chalked it up to be something wrong with PSN. Sorry this doesn't help
