An experiment on brain funtion.

AgentZero

Through that door, is a seperate reality.
Hey guys, so I wanted to start an experiment starting the 13, that I would like your guy's opinion on.
Okay, so as stated above, it's about brain function. Research shows that we only use 10-20% of brains full capacity, I want to learn how to get that other 80-90.
Let's start with meditation. As you're reading this, you're only using a third of your lungs capacity. When we meditate, we breath a lot heavier, and take in the other two thirds. The more oxygen we take in, the more oxygen go's to our brain, the more oxygen that get's to our brain, the more . . . tapping we do. We really get to hack into our brain and bring out ideas from our subconscious.
Secondly, food and drinks. Certain foods are more brain healthy than others. Such as salmon, nuts, blueberries, pomegranate, corn, beans, dark chocolate, whole grains, tea, and a few others I forgot.
I think if we can eat more brain healthy foods, our brains can function better, and give out better thoughts and ideas.
The last thing I want to to talk about before I actually get into what the experiment is, is heart healthy exercise.
Aerobic, and other cardiovascular workouts, are also good for the brain. Reason being, is the more your heart beats, the more blood gets to your brain.

Okay so, now that you've read that, I can tell you what I'll be doing,
On the 13th my mom and I are going too go to the grocery and get 15 days worth of the foods and drinks I have listed above, and eat mostly just that for 15 days.
I'm setting a goal of no less than 30 minutes of reading a day.(I'll probably be doing more though.}
I'm going to wake up and do 30 minutes of aerobic exercises and then another 30 minutes in the evenings.
Drinking 10-12 glasses of water daily. (The more you get in your body, the more hydrated your brain gets.}
As most of you know, I'm writing a zombie novel, so whatever free time I have, I'll mostly be spending it on that.

Now, the day before I start this, I'm going to take a test to see how many words a minute I read, and how much I retain. Then, when the fifteen fays are over, I'm going to take it again and see how much, if any, I improved.
Also, normally I can write anywhere between 250-1000 words a day depending on how I feel. When this is over, I'd like to see that improved to anywhere between 750 and 1500

So what do you guys think?

So this was a serious thread!
The most important thing is water. If you don't drink enough you will not perform well. A dehydrated brain works like a retarded one.

I don't know if the food will make any difference, perhaps a little. But it depends on your previous diet. A huge improvement on diet might help your brain power, but I don't know if it takes months or years to achieve it. I think that your physical fitness will improve much quicker. Fresh air also helps your brain.

But I don't think you want to use 80-90% of your brain! You might faint or explode! We humans are not used to that.

Sorry to burst your bubble pal, but you'll notice a very minimal improvement. Humans do you 100% of their brainpower, but NOT 100% of the time. There is no call to. It's hypothesized that if you were to do so, you would sustain VERY heavy brain damage, due to the fact that all functions up there are based off of Synapses. In other words, electricity. One human brain running at 100% capacity could power the ENTIRE city of New York for ten years straight. In fact, the human brain has the potential to remember the EXACT temperature of ANY day in your ENTIRE life, were the right motivation given, however, the need is not there, therefore it's only theoretical, and not a scientific law. I mean, think about it. If you have the potential to power the ENTIRETY of New York City for ten years straight just sitting in your head, do you really think that can do ANY good being trapped in your body when you tap into it? Now, what you SHOULD focus on, is opening up your Third Eye. That WILL improve your brain function, but in a completely different way. PM me if you would like to know how to do so, and I will gladly teach you. Note, it will not make you SMARTER, like you are wanting, but open to a whole new view on life, in which you can see a lot more, and analyze it in a different way. Not smarter, just, broader, if that made any sense. But hey, try your experiment, as it does sound very interesting, I just figured I'd throw some facts and theories your way first.

That sounds plausible, and I now remember that we don't use all our muscle fibers at one time either. Normally we can only make use of one third or one half of our physical strength for a number of reasons I don't recall right now. This is why we can be unusual strong when our lives is at stake.

One human brain running at 100% capacity could power the ENTIRE city of New York for ten years straight.
Wtf man? You're talking about electricity? If powering = governing it could perhaps be true. :p

Okay, so I just started. Trying to drink as much water as I can right now, and already did my running this morning.

I can read 183 words a minute, with 55% comprehension. Hopefully this will help.

Also KK, I have heard that before, but this is experiment is more trying to exercise or brain without really learning any thing. I guess It kind of came out differently in the post.

Well that's how your brain works my friend...Electrical impulses.

Synapse - a junction between two nerve cells, consisting of a minute gap across which impulses pass by diffusion of a neurotransmitter.

Our brain in conjunction with our nervous system is basically a generator. The brain itself controls the output of electricity, and the nervous system dictates where the electricity travels to...Giving us thought...Motor functions...Multi-tasking capabilities. The greatest super computer ever created can't compare to the Human Brain at 100% capacity. Now, think of how much we are able to achieve using our brain, and think that this is all achieved with roughly 10 to 12% of our brain power on average. Can you imagine the possibilities at 100% when you realize the humans truly DO run on electricity.

Haha I know that of course, it's elementary. But you said it could power NYC... you don't expect anyone to take it seriously? Lol. If we use around 20% of our brain we would only need you, me, and three others to power NYC right now. I think we have to be satisfied if we can light up one bulb each. :p
Just how hot don't you think our brains would be if we could power up more than that? We would light up almost like a nuclear blast, then we would be just ashes.

Edit
Trying to drink as much water as I can right now,
Enough water is very important, but you can drink too much. It just passes through you so it doesn't do any harm in the short term (unless you drink extremely much, water poisoning is dangerous), but if you keep doing it over time you'll wash out too much minerals from your body.

Your pee is a good indicator. If it's dark you're dehydrated, if it's bright your fine.

That's why it's theoretical. But I'm talking about the energy that would be produced 100% capacity. I'm not talking about the brain itself, but the energy. It's a physical impossibility, but theoretically possible. Just like time travel. It's the same concept as going faster than the speed of light, you can go forward in time. While it's not something we can physically do for HARD proof, it's something that the end results of mathematical equations lead to. I'm not going to pretend to know a LOT about the subject. Just enough to get by. But again, when we are talking about in THEORY if it were possible to simply harness the energy that ONE brain would produce at 100% power, then that energy is what would power the entirety of the city for ten beautiful years...As far fetched as it sounds, crazier things have happened. I mean, I'm more inclined to believe THIS over the fact that someone fell 10,000 feet from an airplane and SURVIVED, which has happened.

To get to the bottom of this we'll need to know how many cells there are in a brain and how much amps each cell can generate.

I have heard scientists explain how time travel and faster than light travel might be possible. I find it plausible.
Matter can also exist and not exist at the same time, I believe this was actually discovered and proved in an experiment. Not sure how it connects with travel though...

About that person who fell from an plane and survived, it was obviously a CEO with parachute*. They fall from great heights all the time and the fall make them wealthier than ever before. :p

*) Common term here, not sure how well it translates to English

I don't think we can use much more brain power
A lot of the brain is controlling body functions
Storing memory
Ect
So you could say your using as much as you can.
I believe it's your own will power and ability and willingness to learn which is the true extra power

Also
Sleep is important as you store short term memories into long term memories in your sleep, so that's very important if you want to learn more and gain new knowledge
