I became a member by clicking on the Premium button at the top there and signing up using PayPal to pay.

A Premium member is someone who supports the site by giving a small amount of money each month or yearly (if you wish) and in return they get certain perks - all of which are listed when you click the premium button. Stuff like bigger PM storage capacity, your own email address, bigger avatar sizes etc. There will also be an arcade installed (because there are no premium members other than me just yet, Steve is holding off installing the arcade until someone signs up) which has about 60 games in it.
