Vendetta: Non spoiler review

Hey all,
I have just came back from watching this in the cinema.

I will not spoil anything here but feel free to ask me questions and I'll answer within spoiler tags.

The film:
Overall it was good, they get better with the CGI with each film release. The places within are quite atmospheric and the design was pleasing to a rezzy fan.
Chris Redfields voice actor wasn't the Roger Craig Smith we all know and love but he did a good job in my opinion. I almost forgot I didn't like that they replaced him.

I'd say the plot was very pre re7 (game/plot/film wise, because obviously it takes place before re7)
By this I mean its on par with some of the almost daft storylines that rezzy offer sometimes (in a good way). There were some bits that made me almost want to face palm but I liked that.
And yes Leon does seem to have a bandit manufactured gun from borderlands (more ammo than gun)

The scripting dynamic between the characters was nice, and I liked the conversations between the characters.

I'd say this is probably the best film out of the 3, and if you liked the other 2 or even the games before re7 than I recommend giving it a watch.

Can't really say too much more without getting into plot details so I'll just leave the rest as an AMA

However: note that there is no post credits scene :(

Well, I guess the rest of us will have to wait till monday. Bought my tickets a month ago so I'm set. I read spoilers, too, but those never quite tell you what experience you're in for.

What's with the different release days, anyway? I don't get it. I could understand if non-English speaking countries had it later, because they have to dub it in different languages. Since Germany was the first European country to show Vendetta and the UK had a later date, that can't be the reason.
Also: why are there different dates for the digital release? That doesn't make sense at all. It's no problem to upload it to different streaming platforms on the same day. But noooo, in some countries the digital release is a month later than in other countries.

Yeah, I read the summaries and spoilers, too. It's very different to finally see the movie. It has no major "omg, I would never have thought..."-moments you could spoil, anyway.

I Saw the Devil
Yeah, it'll be playing this weekend in Mexico and on Monday in the US. it seems like the movie is making rounds rather than playing everywhere. If this were 20 years ago I'd blame it on less reels but it's playing nation wide on every showcase. Maybe they're doing it this way to keep piracy at a minimum.

Personally I felt this was the weakest of the 3 films.
I just hate how they turned Leon into a male version of Alice.
And this film was basicly a CGI imitation of those crappy live action movies.

Main complaints in spoiler tag below:
1. The plot was forced, and not much was happening from story standpoint. The film served no real purpose at all. It didn't feel in the blanks, it didn't answer any questions you may have had from the games, it didn't connect anything.
2. Leon felt extremely overpowered. Which killed every bit of tension the film could have had.
- The highway chase with the dogs, while doing tricks on his bike
- Gun-fu vs an entire horde of zombies. Fun fact: he did that with a 9mm without any reload!
- Going full on Spider-man mode vs Diego/Tyrant.
3. Chris' final confrontation with Arias was also so over the top it was laughable. Especially when both started running on circles while trying to shoot each other's foot.
4. The villain was basicly a love-sick discount Wesker.
5. Rebecca served no real purpose in the film. She was mainly there to be the damsel in distress to save. Maria (Arias' latex clad terrorist assistant woman) also had no significant role to speak of, aside from setting up a potential sequel at the end.
6. The Final BOW should have been the highlight of the film, but instead it was just another rehashed Tyrant.

I can't say I agree with any of this. At the very least this film did it's own thing. The most interesting things about the live action films is what they rip off from the games. This one makes an effort to do it's own thing, have some fun action set pieces, John Wick that s***. Saying it's like the live action films seems like an unfair criticism and saying Leon was Alice because he was kicking ass is also an unfair comparison, Leon has a personality, and Chris was kicking just as much ass but with a M4A1 Carbine equipped with a bayonet, taclight, ACOG sight and M203 launcher, as opposed to the custom DSO SIG-Sauer P226, aka the Sentinel Nine, with extended magazine and what looks like striking spiked threaded barrel extension. I didn't like the way they just Chris'd Leon like they didn't play 6 before writing the script but that's hardly reason enough to dismiss the film. Like I said, I'll be skipping the cut scenes and going straight to gameplay but there is some merit to it.

I can't say I agree with most of this but I don't really want to elaborate. I would but addressing spoiler tabs with other spoiler tabs seems a bit ridiculous.

Maybe we should make a spoiler thread.
