Resident Evil 6 Ada's partner revealed

Seeing the supposed partner next to her now, I see how people were fearing having a partner for Ada would be awkward. I don't know...On one hand, I'll enjoy playing Ada's campaign with my friend; on the other, I know he's not going to let me play as Ada. 
How is this 'Mercenary' gonna do grappling hook parts? I still dont think Ada, THE Ada, doesn't need a partner like this.
there should of been dual adas it would make more sense then merc dude i would love to see him use the graple hook just to see what he looks like

Like others, I feel that giving Ada a partner feels freaken weird and out of place.
But I know that some people don't care about the "specifics" surrounding it since they simply want to play Ada's campaign with a friend, which is understandable.
But I still feel that this was unneeded given Ada's "loner" character type.

Is the partner optional, or am I really going to have to deal with this? Just curious, severely affects replays of this scenario for me.
That's my only real concern; If it's 100% optional, I'm fine with it. If not, then I'll finally have a big gripe with the game (which will really suck, because I've largely been quite happy with it).
- I really hope this is HUNK otherwise the whole idea is stupid !! not too mention the begining of ADAS chapter is all stealth and running from the rising water by yourself I hope anyone who hasnt played adas campaign already doesnt screw up cause of the new partner? -Also, will I be able to play as just him or just ada ??

I'm not sure what to think about this. On one hand, I really liked the purely single-player aspect of Ada's campaign. On the other hand, I really liked the coop in the other campaigns, and this new guy looks kinda cool (I just hope he fits in with the story).
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm still not sure how Capcom is going to pull this off, though. There's a lot of things throughout the campaign that ONLY Ada can do. And what about the cutscenes? Is this HUNK look-alike going to be completely absent from the cutscenes, or are they going to add him in those, too?

I don't mind this as long as it's optional. But I still hope he/she/it is more than just "Ada's helper". I just don't want yet another pointless character without a face, name and personality that makes me forever wonder what other people like so much about them. (*cough* Like HUNK. *cough*)
AMAZING! I am hyped for this now! New character for mercenaries and he looks just like Hunk thats why im excited! hell yeah!
officially he is un-named and an "expendable" at that, but in this forum the general population would say this is "BSAA" Agent (aka Hunk), so the Credibility of BSAA Agent (aka Hunk look-alike) is true and not fallacy (being in the game).
with the revelation of Ada's partner, i don't think i will ever re-play Ada's campain....would've have if the partner is female.
Oh yeah. im not that bothered its going to be fun playing Ada again and i need to do it on Professional anyway, hopefully NO HOPE LEFT comes with a nice big 100G Achievement and Our new agent will be fun to play with a different character/loadout in mercenaries. I m grateful
