Resident Evil 6 Should I get a special edition?

I visited a game store yesterday, asked about RE6 special editions (PS3). They said you only get special editions if you preorder, is this normal practice in the game industry?

I had expected to see at least one version of the special editions to be in the shelves after release. I see "special editions" in the shops all the time, but maybe all the times I've seen it, it was movies and not games.

Anyway, they said I might have a chance of getting a left-over special edition, they might call me later today.

So now I've been searching the forum and the web to find out what the special edition(s) has to offer, and I found this link in another thread: http://www.ign.com/wikis/resident-evil-6/Special_Editions. To my disappointment they don't offer the same content everywhere.

And the European deal isn't that great:
  • Resident Evil 6
  • Steel Bookcase with Zombie art
  • Needle Bomb Collector Box
  • Limited Edition RE6 Forces Emblem
  • Exclusive Artbook
  • Avatar item (360)
  • Theme (PS3)
  • One size Ivy University Hooded Sweater

Most of that is useless stuff, where's the real content? Digital content that I can enjoy? I would rather have the Anthology version that they offer in North America.

So I'm not sure what I'll do if they call and say I can have a special edition. It seems useless but it's a little bit cool at the same time. I don't know if I might have a chance of getting it later (second hand is out of the question), it depends on the answer to my question in bold above.

And guess what all the US people rather have this edition.
Im pretty sure this is the better edition for most fans unless you actually havent played the previous games.
And all in all its not like the Europeans are missing out on anything since they can get all the games seperately whereas the Americans cant get the stuff the EU collector's edition offers.

I have not played the old school games so that's why I would want them. I do have the ordinary PS2 version of RE4, but the Anthology package says RE4 HD.
Europeans can get all the old games separately? I don't know where I can get the old games that's why I don't have them already. I've seen some used copies for sale but they were not in the best condition.

Hmm. I do have Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, and I did not preorder RE5. It has some extra content and I don't see why RE6 should not be for sale with extra content later some time.

You can get the old games on ebay, amazon or play.com, CV, Dead Aim and 4 you can get for really cheap and the original trilogy are about £10 each on ps1

Also, I got the No Hope Left Edition from gamestop.co.uk. Its pretty cool and only £90 whereas the GAME one is like £130

90% of the used copies I've seen in stores were in poor condition, and I don't know if people who sell online have treated their game any better. So I feel safer buying in a store where I can inspect the item. But maybe Ebay is safer than I think, they have a reputation system and often the seller provide photographs. I think if I find games on Amazon or Play, they are second hand and these shops don't have pictures of each individual copy.
But for RE4 I think I still can find new copies in stores. But I don't need more because I have two...

You can get them on PSN seperately or am i wrong here? :p
I don't know, I don't have PSN. :p But if I can get it on PSN, why can't Americans? And it should be the same with online shops: Amazon is an American store so if I can get the games from there, so can Americans.

-that and all us fans on ps3 have all the games downloaded anyway...if it wasnt download cards but actual hard copies of the games I would totally buy it !! I went to the midnight release at my gamestop and there were over a hundred people there and not one person bought the amercian speacial editions! If we got cool stuff like the european editions id buy it!

Many shops don't have Special Editions available to sell, but they might be able to get them if you request. At least, most of the game shops I have visited mostly have regular editions.
I don't like the Collector's Edition of RE6, it is too expensive and has very little digital content. I'm not very interested in the hoodie, emblems, etc. I would like the books, but this edition is too expensive.
I was about to buy Anthology from the USA, but then I was afraid there might be compability problems, and so I decided to buy all the extra content from the PSN (it was more expensive than getting Anthology, but I also bought CVX):

RE Director's Cut
RE 2
RE 3: Nemesis
RE Revival Selection HD bundle (containing RE -CODE:Veronica- X HD & RE 4 HD)
RE 5 Untold Stories DLC bundle (including Lost in Nightmares + 2 extra costumes + 4 Mercenaries Reunion characters & Desperate Escate + 2 extra costumes + 4 Mercenaries Reunion characters).

All this cost me around 65 €.

I bought RE 6 in a shop for 61 € (with 12% pre-order discount).

RECVX HD and RE4 HD are actually not worthy if you have the games for PS2. The HD is not very well implemented, it actually loks worse in HD since the poor aspects of the game's visuals (textures, etc) are even more evident. You can buy them seperately, so you could buy onle RECVX HD if you don't have it for the PS2.
I bought the RE5 DLCs because I already had the standart edition. If you don't have RE5, you'd better buy the Gold Edition instead, which already includes all the DLC, and it's in physical media. Lost in Nightmares is the best thing in the whole RE5, but it is very short.

Some months ago, I had also bought the RE Chronicles Collection HD bundle, which includes RE The Umbrella Chronicles + RE The Darkside Chronicles. The Umbrella Chronicles is a bit boring, and visually isn't very interesting (I don't like the textures, colors, etc). The Darkside Chronicles, however, is really good. It has a very nice look, a very god pace, has a better type of horror (includes pshychological horror, instead of just monsters), the characters are more expressive and you acctually feel that they're scared. If I remember correctly, this bundle cost about 27 €, but they are also sold separately. I play them with the Dualshock controller, but I believe it would be a much better experience with the Move controller.

Yes, americans can get them too from there but my point was both americans and europeans can get the content from the anthology edition in other ways but neither can get the stuff of the EU colletor's one in another way meaning americans cant get it.
And no, a special edition was exclusive to UK amazon, american one didnt get it.
