Revelations 1 Game Locking Up During Wrestle with Sea Creeper

I have cleared this game 5 times in the following ways:

1. Casual
2. Normal (via New Game+)
3. Infernal (via New Game+)
4. Casual (via New Game+)
5. Casual (via New Game+)

During the fourth and fifth playthroughs, whenever I try to break free from a Sea Creeper's grip, the game now always locks up.

I've heard that before. Can you use your knife in the game, or does it crash when you do so?

During the 4th and 5th playthroughs, nothing happens when I try to use Jill's knife. I press R1 and nothing happens.

Then that's the problem. From what I've heard, the knife sometimes disappears for no apparent reason, but it's necessary to break free from a sea creeper's grasp, so if the character tries to do so, the game crashes. It has never happened to me, though, and I can't offer a solution other than maybe try to start a completely new game instead of New Game Plus. It's a bug in any case, so let's hope Capcom will fix it soon.
