I am still not convinced he is gay but after thinking of it I may have found some evidence suggesting so, Barry in the original game said to Wesker in the beginning (if you're playing as Jill) "Chris is my old partner you know" which begs the question what sort of "partner" was he? He couldn't be a Police Partner because Chris joined STARS only recently and it probably had nothing to do with their Military background because veterans usually say something like "we served together in [insert branch here]" rather than referring themselves as partners so maybe they were gay partners at one point, also the instruction booklet says Chris was "kicked out" of the Air Force and remember this game was made in and set in the 90s and the US Military had a anti gay policy back then.I think Chris is bi. He has a thing for Jill and liked Piers.
I've never understood why people think he has a thing for Jill.
So what sort of partner is he? If he isn't a gay partner he must be very close to him in some other way because when he found the blood in the dining room he was as scared of it being Chris's blood but didn't seem to care as much about anyone else (besides Jill) so he clearly loves him.Chris got kicked out of the Air Force for having a problem with authority if memory serves me right, but even if it doesn't, I highly doubt that this is what Barry meant when he called Chris an "old partner". If you look at the original RE1, it's much more likely that whoever wrote the horrible script back then just didn't know how to phrase it properly. Also, if one considers that Moira must have been born around 1991, when Chris was 18, it means that Barry had this dubious "partnership" with Chris either before that, when the latter was still a minor, or later, while the former was already married and had a child. Doesn't sound much like Barry.
And I really don't want to imagine Chris and Barry... together.
Because it is a truth universally acknowledged that a young man and a young woman starring together in whatever setting must become a couple in the end.

By the way, I was mostly joking when I said Chris was bi. Him being with Jill may or may not be a thing (they are most likely just pals, like Leon and Claire) but I highly doubt he is bisexual. I was mostly just being an awful shipper.

Considering all these points and facts established by each of you who participated in this discussion, I conclude that Chris must clearly be bisexual. And judging from the perspective in favor of gender diversity and equality, Chris must be bi to not only break the stereotype of a straight American hero / warrior / soldier (like Rambo) but also to represent everyone being that he is more for his decisions than for his sexuality. Personally, I will be very disappointed if was confirmed that Chris was straight, it would be as if Capcom had been pressured to determine him like that because of the negative reaction that there was on the part of most homophobic fans in the community after the revelation of Dee-Ay's homosexuality through one of the developers. In fact, such a case would be tantamount to drastically changing from Barry to Sheeva during the development of RE5, since before the official release, such a title was accused of racism.
And sorry for any grammatical or textual errors, I used Google Translate to make this comment. But at least I hope you guys understand what I mean.
She's like a part of him he can't let go.Or at least make Leon-Ada a real thing!
I think there is plenty of room for romance in the story, but the games are action forward and ignore the sexuality that these individuals could have in their lives. I mean, Carlos x Jill is a thing. And Leon and Ada confirmed they have had intimate relations at some point. But I don't know if there is any evidence of Chris being gay. I don't mind if they tell us that he is at some point, but I want Capcom to make the distinction.
Shouldn't some of these characters be married and have a family by now? I get it - Trauma makes typical lives less likely, but at some point, maybe Claire could settle down? Or at least make Leon-Ada a real thing!
