Damnation; The Sequel To Degeneration, And Prequel To RE6

Sherry Birkin

Raccoon Incident Survivor
Hey guys, Sherry Birkin here! So, I just watched the new CGI movie by CAPCOM, Resident Evil: Damnation, and I defenitely thought it was a huge step-up from its 2008 prequel, Degeneration... :) Anyways, the real thing I was getting at was that I wanted to know what everyone else (Who have already watched it), thought of it? Did you like it? Why or why not? Would you prefer Degeneration over it? Would this higher your expectations for the newest game of the series, Resident Evil 6? ... And also, (With Leon's ass-kicking-ness in Damnation, [and Degeneration to add]), who do you prefer/like better from the series? (To win in a fight, or for just looks, etc... xD) Chris Redfield, or Leon Scott Kennedy? (;

I already knew this is going to be way better than Degeneration after the first Teaser came out.
It had plenty of scenes, plenty of action and actual story (sorry Retribution, no not rly xD) and it honestly felt quite longish which is a good thing cuz u can never have enough, right? ;)
So yh im gonna say here what everyone else says: they should have shown this in cinemas instead of Retribution lmao
If you are asking me Leon would win in a fight against Chris but i wont bother try to explain why.

Yes, this movie was really great. It was epic and proves that Capcom could actually make good RE movies without Paul Anderson to ruin the name of Resident Evil. Although Leon is not one of my favorite characters, this was still a great experience.
I enjoyed the idea of having las plagas infectants instead of zombies, it was good to watch how that worked out in a movie.
I also liked the idea of controlling other B.O.W.'s by using the plagas.
The lickers vs tyrants were just epic. And I liked to watch the lickers play with each other, it shows some animal features.
The only problems with the movie were too many scenes copied from the games, and not explaining a lot of stuff, although I hope some explanations will be in the disc release, since those are usually in the games' files.
I think Chris would clearly win against Leon.

This movie was awesome. Great action, great story, and Leon and Adas interaction where always awesome to watch. Leon vs the Tyrants was epic. When two more came out of no where, I was pretty blown away. It outdid Degeneration in every way, IMO. I'm a little disappointing about it not being another Claire and Leon movie, but Leon and Ada was fine for me.

And I have no doubt Leon would destroy Chris in a fight.

I like this movie better than Degeneration, but what lack about this movie is there are many things unexplained and I really doubt it will explain in the game either, the movie story is stand alone, still connected with the games but also have its own story. Human body animation also do not look like Barbie & Ken anymore.

Leon & Ada interaction is my favorite. But I wish they add more fresh element, because the movie is so much filled with RE 4 vibe. If Leon character is over serious in Degeneration, in Damnation, he is similar with Leon from RE4.

Leon vs Chris :

Fight : Chris, although I doubt, Chris can win over madame President.
Looks : Leon, nobody can beat Leon's hairstyle, LOL
Popularity : Leon, he already have in 2 movies, while Chris no (outside the crappy hollywood live action movie)

sorry for my bad english, I'm not using it as my first language.

I LOVED the fight between Ada and the president. It was so out of nowhere lol. Ada tried to warn Leon that her bite was worse than her bark but he just had to try to fight her lol.
*Spoiler*
Was that really Ada? At the end of the movie, she was clearly talking to Simmons. So was that Carla?

I think it was Carla, for the simple reason that in RE6, they seem to be framing Ada by using Carla (with the whole 'Neo-Umbrella's Ada Wong thing). Ada would have been clever enough to know that she couldn't impersonate someone from the BSAA - she'd have known that it would have been very easy for the President to check (which they did, and came up with the truth straight away). Having known that, she wouldn't have given her own name, let alone impersonate someone from the BSAA. My take on it is that it's Carla, trying to get samples and information for Simmons, but drawing attention to Ada, thereby putting Ada in the frame for it.

Ada planned to be captured, in order to get into the underground facility. She purposely said she was from the BSAA so she would be caught. Her plans actually went better than she expected (as she says after releasing herself).

My copy of Damnation was despatched via Amazon UK yesterday and should arrive tomorrow morning - can't wait! I actually quite liked Degeneration, so hearing that this follow-up has been even better received makes me all the more anxious to give it a watch!

Yeah this is what I got from the movie aswell, that it is indeed the real Ada Wong. Also at the end:

SPOILERS(Highlight to Read):

When she is talking with who I assume is Derek Simmons( his goatee is a dead giveaway) its like she's being sarcastic when she said: "Although, I certainly like the idea of adding an international arrest warrant to my profile", but she is going to be in for a surprise in RE6 because he actually goes through with it and uses Carla To help make sure that she is indeed hunted by the BSAA because of the global bioterrorism that Carla (posing as Ada) will do in the game. I'm thinking maybe she didn't give him the plaga like she did in re4 with Wesker, and sending it to another organization. Also before she said what I quoted, I think he threatened her with an arrest if she didn't give him the plaga and that made her say what she said. Also another reason confirming its not Carla is that she saves Leon again and mentioning something about "that night" in which Leon knows about aswell.

The movie is miles better than Degeneration. I actually liked Ada and Leon much more in this movie than in the games (pre -RE6). Both of them were really enjoyable in this movie.

Highlight:
Ada got the arrest order after her involvement in the incident was proven. The mysterious man in the end removes the arrest order in exchange for the plaga sample. His power really makes me think he's an influent man, so probably Derek Simmons.

HIGHLIGHT

I know that Ada had an arrest warrant due to Svetlana informing the BSAA and I know that Simmons offered to get it removed for exchange of the plaga. I'm trying to say that maybe she doesnt send him the plaga ( or atleast that 1 in the movie) based on the way she responded to his message. The final scene was kind of unclear, she could either appreciate that Simmons could get the warrant erased or she was being sarcastic and screwing him over. Maybe Ada didn't send him the plaga and Simmons is out for revenge in RE6? This isn't a surprise because this wouldn't be the first time she's screwed someone over. Like, what she did to Wesker in RE4.

Actually damnation was much better in both of the story and the length of the movie ..

if i like it or not, magnificent movie awesome action moves I especially like the story of it cause its kinda close to the real things happening in the world right now .

its keep you wondering if its possible to use such weapons
knowing its all about science, chemistry and BIOLOGY so its not impossible to create such weapons .

its really connected with the game in a good way without messing up even the movie or the game

i'll go with chris not cause i hate leon or anything or i'm a fan of one of 'em
i'm a fan of the whole series and all the characters
why i've choose chris .. i think its because we didn't see chris in the movies except in "After Life"
which i think if he wasn't in it it would be much better cause he's parts were silly and weak.
in the other hand leon got two movies, two good movies actually with good story, stunning running, jumping and all those crazy things leon does :)
that's in the movie but in the game chris survived and changed the the world to a better place by killing wesker .. find out the whole thing about umbrella in 1996 i think he did the hard job and made a difference .

HIGHLIGHTS:

i gree that's ada might gave Simmons the plaga, but the way leon's defending carla in the trailer of RE6, is weird he said she's a witness and they need her..
i guess this time ada is innocent ..
or maybe carla got the plaga in the hard way, while ada didn't want to do such thing and that's what makes chris and leon fight
that leons is trying to tell chris that's not ada while he's protecting her
thinking of the lines they said
chris lost his team members because of "her" which its carla standing there .
and we know that its carla cause we know ada is wearing red in the game which chris don't:p
and in the beginning of the captivate trailer Simmons says : how are you feeling ?
and Ada i guess respond with : MORE GAMES ?
Simmons : not quite, just something i think you would benefit from knowing ..

I have a headache LOL !

finally saw, resident evil damnation (back then i said in this forum on how ridiculous the price is, but now i do think it is a reasonable price. this being me, seeing via Xbox Live Gold's Zune. which was 20 bones. it would have been ridiculous if it was 30 bones.) but any-how i was blown away and my expectations were highly met. before i've seen the movie and saw the trailer, the one where it shows a mysterious man Leon sees (which their identity is distorted) behind a wall of flames, my first impression of the mysterious man, was Chris Redfield. but when i did see the movie, i wasn't dissapointed (as what i have expressed about my initial reaction about this movie). And to end it all, a reboot of Anderson's Resident Evil would not redeem him and his version of his "Resident Evil". This is how you make a good game-movie thing, having the actual staff/devs of the series (and i am talking about Camcom's Resident Evil CGI movie, one that. is made by Capcom's dev/staff of the Resident Evil game series). 10 out of 10 (i say)

Highlights: the whole movie......

I liked the story, but like I said in another thread, it felt as though it went by really quickly, with not nearly as much action ad i'd hoped. Most of the action was at the end, and mostly involved lickers being crushed by the Mr. X types :(

Could have been much more action involving the general infected, rather than the controlled lickers.

Like I also said in the other thread, I had a problem with audio, had to turn it up to hear talking, and had to turn it down for action, because the talking and action were totally unsynchronised, and was too quiet for speech, too loud for action.

To be honest, I was bored out of my mind with Damnation. I thought I would enjoy it alot more, because I'll take any and all Leon and Ada moments I can get - but this was just... poo.

The only thing I liked about it really was the fights between Ada and the President and the lickers and the tyrant. I wanted to just take the lickers home and cuddle them and tell them everything will be okay because they were cute.

Apart from that, meh. And I really have no argument apart from 'I was bored'.

Same, boredom ensues :p

The lickers were very cute in this one, which is something I wouldn't expect.

Who'da thunk we'd all be rooting for BOWs ?!

I watched this with my friend the other day. We want to hold a personal recognition for each and every fallen licker because we felt sorry for them towards the end xD

Anyway
Can someone please help explain to me how buddy survived not turning, and why Leon paralysed him?
