Not really, there's a lot of poorly acted horror/slasher flicks but there's also enough well acted ones. Also directors have a huge impact on how well their actors do for a movie.

Alien and Alien 3 both have very dark/gothic environments, especially with the main creature and some of the environments being based off of Giger artwork. It was something Anderson could have worked with when they designed the alien pyramids.
Name five with good acting lol...And I mean GOOD, not decent...

IMO they're probably as bad as each other.

Apparently Michael Bay is going to Reboot the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in film that he is behind. They're no longer going to start out as pets... but aliens.

Uwe Boll is another director that needs a size 10 up his butt. Having said that, I did enjoy the BloodRayne films (Especially BloodRayne 2: Deliverance)
WHAT THE ****!!! HE"S GONNA **** OVER MY ****ING NINJA TURTLES AND MAKE THEM FROM OUTER SPACE!! **** HIM!!!

Alien, The Shining, 28 Days Later, [REC], The Thing (1982), The Blair Witch Project, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), The Decent, The Exorcist.

Then of course there's plenty of thriller/action/sci-fi type of films with horror elements like:
Seven, Jaws, Predator, Aliens, The Mist, Death Proof, Sunshine, Moon, A Clockwork Orange, Jacob's Ladder, Shutter Island...

I'm not asking for Oscar worthy acting here; just convince me you're in fear, in pain, you're frustrated, stressed, ****ed, terrified, etc.

I'll give you Alien, The Shinning, the Thing, the Exorcist, Jaws, Aliens, A Clockwork Orange, and Shutter Island...the others I have to disagree with the exception of
Death Proof, Moon, and Jacobs Ladder, because I haven't seen those...Seven I'll HALF-WAY give you...I can't stand Brad Pitt as an actor...I think he's just plain awful and makes it on his looks...However, Morgan Freeman is amazing...
Ninja Turtles has been my obsession for YEARS...I mean...I collect the action figures, the movies, the original TV series...He's gonna ****ing RUIN IT!!

Voted Michael Bay, for this alone.

He's seriously messing with the source material in turning the Ninja Turtles into Aliens. What about the TCRI ooze?

They're called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a reason, Bay, for God's sake.

Alright well there's your "five" then. lol

I think Pitt's a very good actor and not just because of his looks. Inglorious Basterds and 12 Monkeys are two great films with him.

You can have a great film with him...But he's not the one that makes it great...Troy, Interview with a Vampire, and The Devil's Own are all AMAZING...But not because of him...Inglorious Basterds (Spelled like that) was ok...But I'm not a Qinton Terintino fan except for Pulp Fiction...

I'm not a fan of movies about mindless violence...Not when it comes to a movie I wanna sit down and fall in love with at least...That's all his movies are..Don't get me wrong...I enjoy a nice lame violent film now and again...But I'd rather be watching movies like Kate and Leopold or While You Were Sleeping...Movies with story, acting, and emotion...

God...It ****ed me off enough when they turned the ooze green...It was originally purple...And Splinter wasn't a PET rat...He was once a Human...HE was Hamato Yoshi...Not Hamato Yoshi's pet...But that's all ok because the story still fit really well with the original cartoon...But this...This is just horsesh*t...

Don't we all!? ;)

Actually I don't care for senseless movies in general- hence the RE movies!

I personally don't see 12 Monkeys or Inglorious Basterds as mindless violence. They're a bit more complex than that... But to each their own.

Lol...I think what REALLY got me about Inglorious Basterds is that even though it has a story...A decent story at that...Its SO historically inaccurate that it drives me nuts...Don't get me wrong...Seeing Hitler shot up with all the holes in him was ****in sweet..But I was all "What is this! That's not how it happened"

Just by what I've read, I'm going to have to say bay now...I personally liked the first Transformers, but now that he's messing up with TMNT...that alone is a big BIG no!

On a side note, is it bad that I liked the first BloodRyane(damn you spelling, and being tired lol) movie??

You and me both dude, you and me both!
Seriously man, I grew up with the turtles..I'm obsessed to this day...And this is just a serious outrage...The word mutant is in the name for a reason...And I'll make sure that when I have kids they grow up on the old school cartoon and live action movies...The way it SHOULD be!

I don't think they were saying "this is how it happened", but rather "this is how it should have happened". They intentionally played with the history because it was supposed to be a fun, redemption flick.

Now the movie Troy on the other hand, from what I understand (based off of this one girl's rants against the film), was completely different from the original story.
