We were blown away back in April when talented video game programmer Rod Lima began the daunting task of using Epic Games' Unreal Development Kit (i.e.: a freeware version of the Unreal Engine). Lima has chronicles his progress over the months, releasing numerous video updates of in-game third-person Resident Evil 2 goodness, and has recently seen fit to unveil more gameplay, this time taking place during a boss fight and showcasing the sewers section, with striking similarities present from Capcom's original masterpiece of 1998.

Wow! This looks incredible. If only Capcom would realise how awesome this game would be and make an official one themselves.

Or at least endorse it and post it for free download on their website, like Street Fighter X Mega Man.

Cannot wait. Maybe Capcom will see how much we're supporting this and realize we're not a call of duty fanbase.

Well i red that a little while ago that Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed the studio is not working on a remake at the moment, but the door is open in the future.

Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there's no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now," Hirabayashi said. "But if the fans really clamor for it; if there's a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that's something Capcom would take under consideration.

I wonder if Capcom would ever consider licensing these folks and make it an "official" remake. :) Probably not, but from a business standpoint it would make sense to me!
