After looking through Tron8's thread about our favourite TV shows I noticed a very good show consistantly popping up :P

I made this thread to discuss the TV show but I guess the Telltale games and the comics can also fall under this heading (as long as you dont spoil it for those that dont read the comics)

Who are your favourite characters? What are your favourite seasons/episodes? Any character you dislike and why?

If you're going to discuss recent or future episodes please use spoiler tags. I live in the UK so I get the show the day after the US, and if any of you spoil the finale for me I will find you and do some very bad evil things.

Sorry it got a bit scary at the end there.

Oh let's see. My favorite characters are Rick, Daryl, Michonne, Carol, Glenn, Hershel, Tyrese, and Beth.

The episode where Rick, Carl, and Michonne run into the dudes that Daryl had been runnin' with was a good one. When Rick bit that guy, my jaw dropped. (I haven't had the pleasure of reading the comics yet) I also really enjoyed the season premiere, when they were still at Terminus. I had it recorded to my DVR and I watched it four times in a row. I have a love/hate relationship with the episode where the governor finally kicks the bucket.

That leads me to characters I dislike. The Governor lol. I think everyone can agree on that though. I mostly hated Merle but right there at the end, when he fought with the Governor....he kinda redeemed himself lol. It broke my heart to see Daryl have to see his brother like that, too. Part of me wanted to like Shane but mostly I just wanted to pinch his eyelids.

Merle was a dick...even more so ,he was racist.from a black person's POV,him listening to dark skinned, dread locks rockin' michonne made his redemption more meaningful.also f**k the governer.I felt at first that if he wasn't so damn petty ,he could make things work.but he crossed the line with what happened to hershel. In fact,I felt the same way about wesker after he turned jill into his slave.crossed the line.

anyway,i've notice, glenn's badassery being overlooked.when rick came to (atlanta) he was one of the only people still alive! plus he was goin' it alone for how long?

oh and rick, the changes in rick.also, carol currently scares me the most of anyone in the cast.in a good way.:) luvs the walking dead.i couldn't watch z nation...walking dead is better.

also ,at least every time a black dude dies,he gets replaced...i wonder who the next black guy's gonna be.

another problem though...i was so going for rick/michonne! it's my otp and popular enough in fandom ...but oh well.

^^

Glenn's badassness is definitely over looked, but he's still a little soft (mentality wise)

My favorite characters are currently Cow Boy Rick and Solid Snake Carol. Just because their first instinct is now to kill people. I like how in the first season when Shane beat up Carols husband, Carol was all sad and stuff. These days Carol see's an abusive husband and she's like "we have to kill him" lol.

I'm still heart broken my girl Beth is dead :(
And for anyone who hasn't seen these videos yet they're pretty enjoyable.

In my humble opinion, The Walking Dead is the most overrated TV show of our time.

Season 1 was fantastic, but between Seasons 1 and 2, AMC cut the show's budget by about half, demanded 13 episodes instead of 6, and fired Frank Darabont, the show's driving force, for no reason that was ever stated to the public.
Not to mention, 1 episode of the TV show equated to 1 issue of the comic in Season 1. By the season finale, the show and the book were about in the same place, meaning Season 1 represented the first volume very well.

Contrast with Season 2. In the comic, the characters come to Hershel's farm in Issue 10 and leave in Issue 14. In the show, they come to Hershel's farm in Episode 2, and leave in Episode 13. And since they stretched 4 comic issues in 11 episodes, there was a whole lot more room for really stupid sh!t. i.e. The Zombie In The Well incident, T-Dog never becoming infected despite slicing his arm and exhibiting all the classic symptoms of a zombie, Carl being a little **** out of nowhere, the way in which Lori totals her car,
etc.

No complaints after Season 2, but the show become very bland to me after Season 2 at that point, degenerating into a soap opera with some zombies sprinkled in to hold your attention.

TL;DR - Season 2 dun goofed and no one seemed to notice or care.

Having not read the comics (yet) i can see some of your points.also the part with carl being a little d-bag did annoy me.glad it was over quick

Solid snake carol, lol. But yes.that stunt at terminus and so many other things was awesome.

As for beth, i didn't care for her until she got to the hospital.then i started to actually like beth (she annoyed me at first) .i was sad to see her go. And as for glenn, after what happened tho noah? Oh i think he's headed toward that dark place.seems like each season is attempting to break him.end result, he'll do like carol ; become stronger but at the same time ...well...we know her story.Maggie might try to save his soul, but after noah, something definately changed.

When Rick said that line at the end of season 5 episode 12. I freaked out because he started to sound like the Governor from season 3. Also i am really surprised that they Still have a lot of Ammo and Batteries after all this time.

Oh yes, that disturbed me too.rick is schemin', they all schemin' and Gabriel's a rat.wonder who's gonna put a bullet in his ass? If maggie tells, i think it might be eugene, glenn or carol...and there is a high chance of it being carol

That's what makes Rick a Cow Boy. It's like the episode in season 1 when Glenn got captured by the dudes in the hospital. He went in with T-Dog, and Daryll and told them "You told us to come locked and loaded, so we're here now" Pure badassness.

My favourite characters are Beth :( (still not over it) and Daryl as you can see in my avatar. Other characters that I really like include Michonne, Carol, Sasha, Tyrese, Hershel and Tara.

For my top 5 favourite episodes I would probably say, Too Far Gone, No Sanctuary, Clear, The Grove and Still. The second half of season 4 has been my favourite by far. I loved how we got to really dig into all of the main characters and I loved that they were separated in groups that you wouldn't have really expected (other than Rick, Carl and Michonne).

By the end of season 2 I absolutely hated Shane but I didn't think that they were going to kill him, so I was happy when they did. I also hated Rick from the beggining of season 3 and then when he kicked Tyrese etc. out of the prison when he was all crazy I really hated him. I'm starting to like him more now, but as you can see he's not in my list of favourite characters and he probably won't be especially if he goes all crazy/power hungry again.

If rick goes mad with power, we got carl to back him up.

And solid snake carol to put a bullet in his ass.

And michonne the ripper to cut that mofo.

And don't forget sniper daryl

Sorry, had to go all out on the mgs references.it wqs necessary

I like this show but it's really clear and obvious that they want to make the main cast seem indestructible.
Its a bit annoying as the "throw away" characters get killed in half the situations the main people do (Daryl in particular is untouchable)
Though i think his time has come and will be leaving soon

Most people who die in The Walking Dead have "expendable" written all over them.

I watched season 1 to 3 on Netflix and just started with 4. At the same time I started reading the comics.
I like reading TWD a lot more, because I can do it at my own pace and the story develops faster.
