Hi guys,

Been a hot minute since I posted anything news-worthy-ish in this section of the forum. I apologise for the severe amount of 'white screen of death' that we had to endure during the past 24 hours. This issue was caused as a result of the forum template not being properly updated (by moi) after the software was updated. My -fu has become quite weak due to inactivity, but this was still a rookie mistake that would impacted a lot of you.

The issue is however now corrected and I'm told that the update brought with it more benefits than I had anticipated. It seems that the mobile version of the site is much less of an eyesore - which is unexpected and neat!

There remains one issue that I did spend a little time trying to eliminate. It involves some of you seeing an orange-themed variant of the updated template (referred to as a 'style' in XenForo vernacular) which should be hidden as it is effectively a 'parent style' that handles most of the template look and feel but does not include the tweaks that I have included. If any of you are seeing the forum with orange and/or yellow-coloured links or headings or whatnot, then I would strongly recommend switching to the new and RE-themed 'residentevil (march 2020)' template via the style switcher option in the footer area, near the Contact Us, Terms, etc. links.

Any questions or comments - feel free to fire away. I'm really eager to do get something done about the flagging homepage/news section of the website; I'm just not sure what yet. A special thanks to Turo602 for being awesome and providing a bunch of awesome suggestions in private as to how to rejuvenate the forum a little. You're awesome, bud, and patient as all heck.

Cheers and have a good one, peeps.

Hey @Albertwesker959 and cheers for the response. Apologies, but I'm not sure that I understand your question. Are you asking about the main background image (the RE3-themed one set in the street) or something else?

Ah - gotcha. I'll try and get those back online, pronto.

I'm gonna sound like a bit of a ninny here, but aside from the orange text and links and whatnot, does the forum look much different to how it did, say, a week ago? We're effectively using the same template but with some minor updates. I actually don't know what all the updates are. I'm wondering if maybe some people were using the old, old template all this time and are only now seeing the 'Tactical' template that has actually been in place for over a year... not sure about this one.

Thanks MG. Don't follow me, though - I make a bunch of mistakes. Follow Jesus; He's the real deal.

Everything looks great! Thanks for the update.

The only minor issue I have is that people's avatars are significantly smaller now, and you can't see post counts or "Member since" stuff. I've always appreciated old-fashioned forums for being one of the last few places on the Internet where user customization is encouraged. Unfortunately the trend has led to the reduction and eventual removal of such features, to the point where modern forums like Reddit are completely bland and besides the username everyone's posts look exactly the same. It makes everything look less personalized and members looking more like sheep.

Fortunately we're not there yet, and I'm so happy and grateful that this forum still has avatars and signatures! :)

The forum does look great, but what are the changes that will take a minute to get used to?

For me - there is now an arrow under the avatars that will show Anniversary Date, Comment Amounts, etc. that wasn't there before. And long text boxes are now condensed in to smaller boxes until I hover over them so they can expand. Additionally - the notifications section now have much longer explanations of what my notifications are.

But as you said, maybe I only saw the oldest version of the website? I use the website from my laptop only on Chrome.

On the first day I had mixed feelings about the change but I soon started to like it as I got used to it. Nice.

I don't see any orange theme but I also don't see that switcher. I can't find it, is it there?
