David Bowie - Pablo Picasso (The Modern Lovers cover)
David Bowie - Waterloo Sunset (The Kinks Cover)
Annie Lennox - No More I Love You's (The Lover Speaks cover)
Per Gessle - He Ain't Heavy, He's my Brother ( The Hollies cover)
Per Gessle - Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment (The Ramones cover)
Rod Stewart - It's a Heartache ( Bonnie Tyler cover)
KT Tunstall - 2000 Miles (The Pretenders Cover)
Alanis Morissette - Crazy (Seal Cover)
Dave Mason - All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan Cover. Yes, better than the Hendrix one.)

I know there's tons more because you never really realize just how many songs you like are actually covers, but off the top of my head, this is all I can come up with.
  • 311 - Love Song (The Cure cover)
  • Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson cover)
  • The Ataris - Boys of the Summer (Don Henley cover)
  • Metallica - Whiskey in the Jar (Thin Lizzy cover, though not really)
  • Natalie Imbruglia - Torn (EDNASWAP cover)
  • Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (David Bowie cover)
  • Pearl Jam - Last Kiss (Wayne Cochran cover)
  • Seether - Careless Whisper (George Michael cover)
  • Soft Cell - Tainted Love (Gloria Jones cover)

My top 3 favourite cover versions:
  1. Fear Factory - Cars (Originally by Gary Numan, who also happens to be in this cover, on the album "Obsolete")
  2. Static-X - Shock Treatment (Originally by the Ramones, this version is, as far as I'm aware, only found on "Beneath, Between, Beyond", a collection of b-sides and rarities)
  3. Disturbed - The Sound of Silence (Originally by Simon and Garfunkel, this version is on the "Immortalised" album)

This. I love the original but the Disturbed cover is powerful.

Another song cover I really enjoy is New Found Glory's cover of the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop". I don't know if I'd call it "better" than the original per se, but it's definitely one of the better-sounding covers of this song I've heard. Then again, virtually every punk band has covered this song at one point or another because it's such an iconic song.

Here it is:

I also stumbled across Rob Zombie's cover of Grand Funk Railroad's "We're An American Band", and I must say I kinda do like his version better:

His cover puts Poison's to shame.

Gonna have to disagree with these three here, lol

Well, anyway. Here are some of mine:
  • Santana's Black Magic Woman (Fleetwood Mac cover)
  • Johnny Cash's Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover)
  • Quiet Riot's Cum On Feel The Noize (Slade cover)
  • Rush's Heart Full of Soul (Yardbirds cover)
  • Led Zeppelin's Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (Joan Baez cover, written by Anne Bredon)
  • The Beatles' Twist And Shout (Top Notes cover)
  • Stevie Wonder's Superstition (Jeff Beck cover)

You can't kill me.
I actually agree with a lot of these and I think all of the ones that I'd had off the top of my head have already been listed, but I will name them again to show my support I guess lol.

I like 311 - Love Song WAY more than the original, as well as the seemingly hundreds of other covers I've heard of that song.

I also like Manson's Sweet Dreams cover, as well as Tainted Love and Personal Jesus. Come to think of it, I really like what he does with all of his music and haven't heard a cover I didn't like.

I also prefer Limp Bizkit's Behind Blue Eyes cover.

... that's all I can think of now.

I love The Nightmare Before Christmas....but I think Marilyn Manson's cover of This Is Halloween is pretty awesome

I think Stand by Me deserves a mention. The original was incredible but Florence gave it a breath of fresh air. Better in some ways I feel.

I'm a singer and have my own songs released on Apple Music and other online music sites. Throughout my singing career, I have only recorded one cover song and this was recently. One day, I was asked to do a cover of "Lotta love"....So I did. I enjoyed singing it very much!
