Resident Evil: Requiem

Did somebody say Jill and hopeful returning characters in the same breath? Because I kid you not: they actually teased a third character at TGA in the promotional art/background (who’ll probably be DLC and a cameo in the main story if it exists) and it very well could be Jill. I’m serious.

The blank space to the right of Grace and Leon is enough of a hint that a third (probably DLC) character exists, but it doesn’t end there. Notice the smoke cloud in the form of an eye and brow in the red circle close to the edge? Does that not look familiar? It sure does to me.

But it doesn’t end there. They also gave us this in the actual trailer portion of the segment at TGA:

I know it’s all anecdotal and that calendar could easily be an Easter egg of sorts celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the Raccoon City outbreak/destruction event, but they’ve definitely left the door open for Jill’s return at least and honestly, I kinda hope it happens even if it’s in the form of story DLC for Requiem like Not A Hero. The eye cloud/silhouette even looks strikingly similar to Jill’s glance in the cryo tube in the second RE5 trailer.

It’s Rose Winters. If I’m not mistaken, her alternate costume look or something like that was already leaked last week by mistake.
 
Some guys made a series and then Dusk Golem took it over 30 years later. That's the story.

I guess I will be looking to competitors and hope more spring up soon whilst consuming RE's on steep sales. Series is now (almost) dead to me. Too many red flags up until this point that I overlooked and engaged in wishful thinking.

Bummer but oh well.

Who cares what Dusk Golem has to say about anything? He's just a guy that likes talking about the series who might have a contact on the inside. You just take whatever he has to say with a pinch of salt, sometimes he's right and sometimes he's wrong about the future of the series ... just like we all are.

Don't let Dusk Golem ruin the series for you.

I don’t believe that for one second. One, it’s not on the GameStop page, anymore, and secondly, she’d be 5 by this game’s time (since we now know it’s set in 2026, not 2028 per the director), so why on God’s green earth would she be playable, let alone get her own standalone DLC campaign? It had to have been edited by some troll with InspectElement or AI like the Portuguese PlayStation Store page was.

Who said anything about a DLC? I’m just talking about being the third face in the image you posted. Besides, if there is any DLC, who knows what year it would be set in, and she could just be the star returning character for a Mercenaries mode or something.

Now, all that being said, what you said does make me reconsider the possibility of it being her.

Not to say the director is wrong, but it’s 30 years after Raccoon City is it not? That would be 2028.

The director said it’s set in 2026, basically the year the game launches in like all the other REs.

So she’d be 5. Unless it’s a DLC set many years in the future like the Shadows of Rose DLC (and why would you do that with the Raccoon City return concept ripe for DLC in the present year? Think of all the legacy characters they could let shine through DLC expansions), suffice to say there’s zero chance of that happening.

Oh i’m not really bothered about how it relates to Rose, I was just on about the 30 years later thing, it’s wrong if it’s set in 2026.

They made a similar screw up with 6, saying it was 10 years later, which would be 2008, despite the game taking place in 2012/2013.

This is disappointingly common. 5 was supposed to be 10 years after the mansion, yet it’s noted as taking place in 2009, which, even if rounding, is closer to 11 than 10. And in 6, Chris says it’s been 3 years since he killed Wesker, but again, even accounting for rounding, he should be rounding up to 4, because it’s closer to that, if not actually past that. We can maybe excuse the fact of Chris’s recent memory problems, but not by much.
 
In another “a-ha! Called it!” moment, it looks like there may indeed be something to Jill appearing in the game indirectly spilled by the director, Yoshi Nakanishi:


He outright said Chris isn’t in the game, but when asked about Jill, he gave the cop-out answer “we can neither confirm nor deny”. The same answer he gave about Leon, and alas, he’s in the game (to nobody’s shock).

Plus really look at the right side of that art I posted a while back in the area below the mist. Tell me that doesn’t look like the Arklay Mountains/Raccoon Forest. The left side where Grace is facing is obviously the destroyed Raccoon City, and in the background with the space left blank for a third character (probably through DLC), it’s Raccoon Forest.

Yep, I’m willing to bet she’ll at least make a cameo, calling it right now. He did say other Raccoon City survivors would be appearing after all, he just couldn’t say who.
 
I hope it's true, it would be fantastic if she was in it as part of the story. Nakanishi is a fan of Jill as he chose her as the main character of Revelations, so I could see it happening.
 
She was also originally a playable character in the game since the OG open world multiplayer build was confirmed true by Nakanishi, though Dusk apparently stole that off of another leaker and tried to take credit for it.

Plus why not just outright say she’s not in the game unless *drumroll*… she’s in the game?
 
Teen Tyrant it is. But putting aside Capcom’s lies and looking at that showcase objectively, it looks like an exceptionally well made game, they brought Vendetta Leon into the games.

Still not appealing to me though, as stylish as it looked, I didn’t see any substance. It’s the plot that has me most curious. It’s the first time since 5 i’ve been intrigued by plot alone.

It’s still definitely a later date, when I get around to it game though, as i’m just not interested in more full on action RE yet, since we just had that with 4 and SW, and Grace’s horror looked too much like 7.
