Welcome back to Resident Evil Remake VR. Last time we rode the elevator down into the Arklay Laboratory, we encountered one of Umbrella's most sickening experiments and handled some hazardous chemicals. It all culminated in us boarding another elevator to finish off the first playthrough scenario. Today, we return to the second playthrough and resolve the cliffhanger ending.
The elevator doors open, and you and your partner (if they are still alive) step out. Immediately, your eyes fall onto the letters on the wall, B1F. Turning the corner around the water tank, you spot the doors leading to the Helipad corridor. Spotting the sign on them, you try to open them anyway, but with no luck. "Are you kidding me? This isn't a first-class emergency? With no other option, you descend the ladder to the Save Room. Use the item box and the typewriter if you wish, before opening the double doors to the Stair Hallway. Keep a powerful weapon ready. Any zombies you didn't torch on your first playthrough will be Crimson Heads. Once the path is clear, you head over to the Visual Data Room. The doors are electronically locked. A search of the nearby gurney reveals the key to the X-Ray Room.
Frustrated, you continue down the stairs to the Central Room. After clearing any Crimson heads, you try the West Corridor. As you step through the doors, the lights above suddenly flicker to life, illuminating the room. You open the door closest to you, that being the X-Ray Room. Immediately, your eyes are drawn to the X-Ray board, where a sticky note reveals how to open the electronic locks in the Lab. Two names are already up, Clark David and Gail Holland. Searching the room, you find the missing X-rays as well as John's letter to Ada next to a computer. The letter fills you in on how to get into the Visual Data Room. Place the X-rays of Alex Bechet and Ed Fisher on the board and flip the switch on the wall. The red light shows several body parts inflamed. Alex Bechet's colon, Clark David's esophagus, Ed Fisher's liver, and Gail Holland's lungs. Put them together, and you get Cell.
Returning to the Hall, you try the next door labeled Research. It's locked electronically. You examine the reinforced doors at the end of the hall. But they are rusted shut.
After searching the Morgue with no results, you find a working computer in the Lab. You enter John as your username and Ada as your password. A computerized voice welcomes you back as John Clemens. Selecting the Visual Data Room on level B2, you enter Cell as your password. Success. After unlocking the Researcher's room on B3, you log out.
Returning to the West Corridor, you enter the Researcher's Room and are met by the shambling form of a zombie. After dispatching him, your eyes fall to the nametag on the floor. Picking it up to examine, you see the name John followed by the initial C. A strange feeling of pity settles in you. Like the rest of the scientists, he was involved in the unethical experiments that ultimately led to his end. But he was also human, with a life outside this lab, apparently. You resolve to make sure the truth about what happened here gets out.
Examining the desk on the wall, you find a terminal for an MO disk. A quick search of the shelf reveals the Mail to the Chief of Security file. It confirms what Enrico said to you. S.T.A.R.S. was set up from the beginning. Umbrella knew about the accident and covered it up. Examining the shelf a second time reveals an MO disk hidden between the files. Inserting it into the terminal sends a signal, and a bible verse appears on the screen. Before leaving, you look in the sink. You find a red slide filter.
Returning upstairs, you enter the Visual Data Room. On the wall next to the sliding door, you find a map of the Laboratory. On the table, in the middle of the room, you find the Security Protocols file. So that barred door near the elevator leads to a helipad? That's great, now if only you had a way to open it.
As you continue to read, you suddenly pause. At least one Consultant Researcher, E Smith, S Ross, A Wesker, wait...what? The file continues on, listing protocols for the power room and Level 4 before abruptly cutting off. Spotting the slide projector set up, you flick the switch and turn it on. The first slide reads Umbrella Bio-Organic Weapon Official Report. One by one, images of the monsters you have faced tonight fly by you. MA-39 Cerberus, AR-53 Web Spinner, FI-03 Neptune, MA-121 Hunter, IN-MA 86 Chimera, T-002 Tyrant. The next slide makes your blood run cold. A group photo of the researchers involved in the Project. The Blonde Man on the far right. "Captain Wesker?"
You gasp in shock. If your partner is with you, Jill angrily confronts Barry about this, telling him about Enrico's murder. Barry is shocked to hear this, but tells Jill about how Wesker threatened his family unless he cooperated. Having realized Barry was involved against his will, Jill forgives him. Chris and Rebecca, meanwhile, are both equally shocked. The news of Enrico's death hits the Medic particularly hard. She breaks down. Chris consoles her, saying they will bring Wesker to justice for his crimes.
Your resolve hardened, you press the slide button one last time. The screen shows a ten-digit number. 0322199630. Turning your attention to the keypad on the wall. You realize it needs a four-digit passcode. Opening the slide projector, you insert the red filter. The number changes to 3196. You enter it in the keypad, and the wall against the small room slides up.
(Under construction, more to come soon.)
