Resident Evil Films and TV....A step to far?

APV

Wait, Who stole me Haggis?
How many of you's have watched the Films...Now to be honest and this is just my opinion but i feel that the Films and the possibility of a TV show is ruining Resident Evil as a whole. In my defence watching all the films i felt that the second film based in Raccoon City was the only film to relate a lot more to it game counterpart than the other Films before and after.

Am i maybe over thinking this?

I mean i felt that the Second film incorporated Resident Evil 2 and Nemesis beautifully but i felt that the First film just touched on the First games storyline and blew it well out of proportion and led to the following films to be well off basis and this is why i feel that the Films are ruining a perfectly good gaming story and Hollywooding it in turn taking it a step to far!

Thanks and Sorry for the moan!

I'm afraid not, I've heard it off of several of my American colleagues who do Part Time Games Testing alongside me. When we got the rights to test RE:ORC in early August we were talking on Skype about the game and its flaws when it came up. I was told apparently CAPCOM US are in talks with a major US TV show maker over the rights, Ill speak to them to find out more or even a link to it and let you know ASAP as i myself couldn't find anything online but i trust the word of these guys.

Kind Regards

The story arcs of the movieverse and gameverse of RE have been different from the getgo at this point the movieverse RE series have been tremendously successful so perhaps an integration of the 2 is in order

TV- A TV show could go either way...For example...If they did it as an anime, like they did with Devil May Cry I would most likely adore it...They could do so much with animation that they could not do with live actions, and I would THINK it would be easier to keep it true to the games, which is what all fans would want. Say it were a live action TV show comparable to the Walking Dead...Then they'd have a lot of work to do to keep up with such a perfect zombie show...

Movies-The worst thing about the movies is the bad acting...I absolutley loathe some of the actors in the movie adaptations...However, storywise, No,they are NOT ruining the games for they exist in two completely different cannon universes...Just like Spectacular Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man are two COMPLETELY different comic series...They have nothing to do with each other, but are good in thier own right...While I MUCH perfer the games, and am not a huge fan of the movies...I still think the movies are not "Ruining" the games because they have nothing to do with one another...

i haven't seen anything anywhere about an RE TV show official or not other than this thread in the whole internet until something more substantial comes along i'll consider this thread the OP's wishful or nightmarish thinking depending on his or her point of view.

What would your opinion on one be though...

It would largely depend on how it's made if they make a TV show which I doubt anyway as there's no indication whatsoever of this being so I would love if they followed the games original storyline this time around that's for certain.

I didnt hate any of the films, but Apocalypse and Extinction are easily my least favorite, with Apocalypse at the bottom of the list. I personally couldn't have asked more from the first film (except maybe Rain's survival; still waiting to see how they pull off her character in Retribution) and I thought Afterlife was probably some of the most fun I've had watching a movie. To that I would probably add Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, the fps sequence in Doom, and Kick-Ass :). But back to the topic... No way are the movies ruining the games.

As for a TV show, I would love for it to not be anime because I never really liked the style at all and I don't think a Resident Evil title would be enough to get me to watch anime. I would want it to be live action. And The Walking Dead started out ok, but I dont think it would be hard to compete with anymore.
