In what is perhaps the most pleasing — and insurmountably unexpected — news concerning Resident Evil 6 to grace the web this week, it seems that zombie gaming aficionados, Valve and Capcom, have struck a delightfully deadly deal in which fans of both the Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead series can enjoy some especially juicy and tender prime cuts of additional content to be served in the not-to-distant future. The most exciting of which possibly being the inclusion of the Left 4 Dead 2 survivors: Coach, Rochelle, Nick and Ellis all being introduced into Resident Evil 6's Mercenaries mode as playable characters.
This really all does sound like the sort of collaborative joke that we'd expect to see pulled on April Fools Day, but it turns out, in fact, that 'Resident Evil x meets Left 4 Dead 2' is a very real plan put in place by the two game development giants to help shovel even more zombie-themed madness into our two favourite necro-'em-ups. Have a listen to what Resident Evil 6's director Yoshiaki Jirabayashi had to say on the matter:
And here's the dirt from the freshly printed press release:
'Owners of Resident Evil 6 PC will be able to select one of four survivors from Left 4 Dead 2’s iconic cast – Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle – when playing PC exclusive mode, The Mercenaries No Mercy. Each character will have a special customized weapon load-out created just for use in Resident Evil 6.
In addition to the four survivors, two of the infamous Special Infected zombies from the Left 4 Dead franchise – the Witch and Mini Tank – will also make a cameo appearance in this mode, relentlessly attacking players regardless of whether a character from Left 4 Dead 2 or Resident Evil 6 is chosen.
This new and exclusive content will automatically be downloaded in the background to all owners of the PC version of Resident Evil 6 from April 5.'
