Resident Evil 5 RE5 split screen help

hi all. i just bought RE5 Gold Edition for PS3 and started playing with a friend. but when we are in the inventory menu my friend can't buy/upgrade/sell anything (he can't even go to the "Buy" menu). we've played it through 2 times on his xbox360 and we never had a problem, and it's pretty annoying. anyone know what to do ?

and just a side question. on the cover it says that i get 4 new custumes but i only got 2 (1 for each character) do i get 2 more when i complete the game ?

first of all i only own the ps3 version and its not allowed to the 2nd player to buy/sell stuff there he can only wait for the 1st player to give him what he wants xD

and the 4 new costumes have to be downloaded (COSTUME PACK, there are 2 of em)

Wrong Kosda, Gold Edition comes with both of the costume packs. But, you might have to beat everything before you can use them. And there are a total of five costumes for each character. And as for the buy/selling, the 2nd player on split-screen can never buy/sell items. They can only be given items.
