Please help to understand the sentence

Hello everyone! I'm from Russia. I've been playing first Resident Evil in english and there is a record in keeper's diary: "When I woke up this morning, I found another blister on my foot. I went to the dog's pen and ended up dragging my foot." I just wanted to clear this one for myself - dragging his foot means that it was painful for him to walk or dragging his foot means that he didn't really want to go there but had to? I just heard about this figure of speech in english language and wanted to ask people who knows it :) All Resident Evil 1-3 translations in russian are fan-made so some of them translate this one different or just skip this sentence. I hope you understand me and sorry if there are mistakes :)
