Newbie question

I titled this as a newbie question because while I've been playing Resident Evil for a few years I really don't know that much about it. :(

Anyways, I finally got my hands on a copy of Code Veronica a few days back, finished it last night, loved it! I also own RE3: Nemesis and RE 4, love both of them too.

Basically I'm wondering what game I should get next. I'm guessing the order for the ones I have is:

First: RE 3: Nemesis
Second: RE CV
Third: RE 4

Just not sure what to fill in the blanks with. I was thinking of going for Resident Evil Zero next. Not sure if I should get the Wii or GC version, Gamespot didn't have a review for the Wii version so I'm hesitant.

basically the canon timeline goes

resident evil 0
resident evil 1
resident evil 3/2/3 depending what way you look at it and how much you believe
resident evil CV
resident evil 4
resident evil 5

well thats how im sure it goes anyway, havent been on resident evil wiki in awhile

Rather Resident Evil: Remake for the Gamecube Zero, 2, or one of the Chonicle games for the Wii. If you have a Xbox 360, PS3, or a high enough PC then #5

I mostly recommend the Remake, Zero, and the Chronicles.

As for Wii versions of the games, they are basically the same as the GC versions except they have Wii controls.

I just read on the RE Zero Wiki page and it mentioned the Wii version having support for the classic controller. That's good news. I can easily get my hands on the Archive versions of Zero and the RE 1 remake, was just worried the controls would be weird and try too hard to use the motion of the Wiimote.

Thanks for all the replies by the way, very helpful. :)

i would say the remake possibly the scariest for gamecube but u can play gamecube games on the wii so get a wii and have fun of from all games.

This. Also, add RE: Survivor after RE3. Outbreak files 1 and 2 are of course during RE2 and RE3.

Survivor is canon (mainly because of the mass production of the T-103, and Sheena Island is mentioned in the opening of RE0). Dead Aim is canon due to the T+G virus, but you can ignore it, because it has no influence in the main games. Survivor 2 is kind of canon, but not interesting... it's Claire's nightmare as she and Steve are in the plane towards the Antarctic, basically it's like versus mode of CV, you fight enemies in FPV in the Rockfort Island and, if the timer runs out, Nemesis follows and kills you (it's not possible to kill him).
The Outbreaks are open to personal preference. I like to think they're not canon, although Death's Door scenario of RE Umbrella Chronicles tries to fit into the last scenario of Outbreak 2 (but it's not cronologically possible).

You can play the GC versions of RE0 and REmake in Wii, as long as you have a GC remote. You can probably find them online, much cheaper than the Wii version.

Survivor definitely is. I would have to say the outbreaks are as well. Some of the scenarios you can see in RE2/RE3. IMO, the scenario that bruno mentions confirms it.
