New Resident Evil games and the ladders

So while it's related to RE, I think it's rather offtopic.

What's with the characters jumping down 30-40meters, when they reach ladder, instead of climbing down?
Leon: jumping from church tower.
Jill, Chris jumping from cliffs, ships in RE5, RE6 and Revelations.
etc.

I mean sure, they trained soldiers but why would they risk breaking their back, when there's a ladder they can simply use??

I've been thinking about the same thing since I started playing RE5. They sometimes jump down what seems like 15 metres without a scratch. In real life, jumping down just two meters can already hurt even if you don't break anything, let alone 15 metres which will most likely kill you, trained soldier or not. It's probably just meant to save time... I wouldn't be keen on watching my characters slowly climbing down every ladder.
On second thought, RE isn't very realistic in general. Look at Leon and Helena in RE6: They constantly fall down from high places, get hit by explosions, crash all kinds of vehicles, in short, they get involved in so many accidents that would kill, disable or at least severely injure any normal human in real life, yet they only get dirty in the process, otherwise they're perfectly fine. I guess jumping instead of climbing down ladders is harmless in comparison.

their also trained soldiers and military training will teach them to commando roll and drop off heights. I used to do a lot of extreme sports and free running and people can easily jump from 10-20feet heights without injury and even higher- such as 3 storeys using a drop roll technique.

However, it won't stop the fact that their body would be sore and they'd likely have trouble walking for around a half hour, if not more. Unless they're really in a rush, they should be able to just take the time to climb down a ladder.

not really, if they follow the zombie rule book and Limber up, i could jump off 10+ feet wall easily, roll and continue running. Though i agree some of the drops were really big, Gears of War Judgment does fall damage reallly good, if you drop off something too large your character does a short crouch/stagger upon landing and looses majority of health.
