Resident Evil 5 Mercenaries Combo?

Is it just me, or is the combo absolutely worthless? I played on Public Asembly solo as Wesker Midnight, got one combo of 60, and another of 70, I also grabbed 3 combo time bonuses, and I ended up with 265k.
However, I played again without getting combo time bonuses and my highest combo was 30, I focused on getting nothing but melee kill and got a score of 300k. So, again I ask: is the combo worthless?

When you go melee, you will won more points.

yeah you get more points, and the gives you Points as well, i played as Bsaa Jill and got a 150 Combo with just melee attacks (except the Three Executioners)

I am now convinced that the combo is entirly worthless. Last night, I joined a duo game session in which both my partner, and my self played as Wesker Midnight. We ended up with a 150 combo, and a score of around 525k. Problem was, he made alot of explosions. He wanted to prioritize overall kills over time-bonus'. Yup, I would say the combo is pretty much worthless.

I think 525k is a lot, my maximum, in all my life was 110k
