no not dead. on PC.
what you learn is that there is the giant mob of gamers that hop games. play once move to the next game. then there are the ones that see a game for what it is and love it, and play for years. i have a couple friends on my steam friends list that has accumulated over 1000 hours in RE6. myself i invite some of them to play a few rounds of mercs every week. cuz mercs is fun.

There's actually a matchmaking group on steam if you want to play with other people around the world.
Very much alive on PC, as others have noted. In addition to the Steam multiplayer groups, it's easy enough to make a couple reliable friends and between you and them, it's not hard to get together 6 people.
