Since RE7, we really should always take things with a grain of salt.....

This. It also bothers me when people point to Leon's parry mechanic as Canon power level....I was following along until he started using basic gameplay features as proof of her being, uh, "abnormal”. There aren’t any moments in the game where she reattaches her leg or is able to see enemies through walls or deadlifting tyrants, so I have no choice but to take Spencer’s words at face value.
The thing that strikes me, other than the flashbacks that Grace has after the Zeno video reveal, is the fact that in the Spencer video, Grace is brought out by an individual in a white coat, a researcher, rather than a caregiver.
To me, that's a giveaway as well.

If Spencer was really sincere about Grace, it was well within his means to provide a proper caregiver to this little girl that he describes as "his hope".Seems normal though—Spencer being around lab coats and having them handle certain things. I recall Mr. Trevor mentioning them in his diary before he was dealt with.
I find that the way the story has been left open ended, allows for the real possibility that there is more to Grace than what we were given in the game.I don't think there's anything special about her. The point of the plot twist was that she turned out to be not special after having teased the player the contrary throughout the whole game.
Ethan is a bad comparison simply because he was always presented as being just your average dude in RE7. It wasn't until Village where we were revealed the truth about his condition.
Unsure why Ethan would be a bad comparison. After he reattached his leg in RE7, it makes sense that, when we get the reveal in RE8, he was dead after Jack captured him.I don't think there's anything special about her. Or, she could just be like Alex Wesker: immune to Progenitor-based viral agents’s lethal effects, but not compatible with any mutation or adaptation influences of said viruses. Since rare DNA types are either compatible with Progenitor and its variants, or immune to it altogether, Grace could be one such specimen. Perhaps Spencer even created Elpis from her DNA, extracting from her whatever gene neutralizes Progenitor.Unsure why Ethan would be a bad comparison. After Grace is bitten (and we get a huge close-up of it), she is not affected. Why? Most likely because there is something in her DNA that stops the infection. Elpis?
We've had countless of playable protagagonists infected with the virus during gameplay/story before, Ethan was not the first one to have strange things happen to his body. The point isn't "infected or not infected" the point is how a character is being presented in the story. Grace's whole character arc in Requiem is built around her being special, whereas Ethan's character arc in RE7 is summed up as "average dude who got dragged into f-d up sh-t". It was Village who revealed that Ethan's special, but RE7 on itself is extremely self-contained.Unsure why Ethan would be a bad comparison. In Leon's 1st section, the man whose nose is bitten off turns into a zombie. The virus in this doesn’t transmit through bites, or have I just made that up? I’m sure there’s something about that. And Grace is completely normal, that’s the whole twist with her isn’t it?
Agreed. This is exactly why I started this thread. The director is known for twists and turns in the narrative. In the cut scene below, we are given this huge close-up of a zombie bite for a reason. IMO the director is showing us that Grace is special. Gideon's research was inconclusive. I believe we will get the twist in the narrative in the DLC.We've had countless of playable protagagonists infected with the virus during gameplay/story before, Ethan was not the first one to have strange things happen to his body. I was so disappointed when he didn’t get back up. Though It’s hard to say whether or not getting bit is grounds for an instant infection.Pretty sure that guy just bleeds out right there and dies because he doesn’t get up.
Agreed. But I have seen him get up, and in that specific section, some people are killed by zombies and stay dead, and some, you can see, are lying on the ground like they are dead and turn into zombies. This is seen when running through the streets, and a zombie bites you from behind. Zombie bites do not result in a standard, immediate infection or transformation. It's a lower percentage, but people do turn.Pretty sure that guy just bleeds out right there and dies because he doesn’t get up.
I think the cutscene where she gets bit, we’re meant to think "oh sh*t, she’s gonna turn!" but that’s probably to subvert the conventional 'zombie bites make you turn' trope that exists in the majority of media featuring them.
Keep in mind, the T-virus has had a vaccine for about 20 years by the time this game takes place. This new resurgence of it is a slow-acting new variant brought on by further mutation of the virus itself, so it’s lost a good deal of it’s infectious punch, combined with the general public likely being inoculated against it. So I don’t think it’s so much that bites don’t infect and turn you in this game as it is the virus having to work double-time to overcome the resistances that people have developed since the days when T was the sh*t.Agreed.
