Theres a new thing recently called Discord.
I won't say much becsuse of advertising but it's like a mini Skype and text chat based thing, it works on pc and as an app on the Android store, you can make your own server on it and invite only people you want with a link.
It may help you guys if you have smart phones or pcs nearby your console
