Revelations 1 Genocidist help

Hi all, I was playing ghost ship with Jen for an attempt to do 100% (kills)
We killed 315 and we believe that we may have been 1 kill short.
In the lab area we didnt take out some of the explodey ooze and one of them exploded on its own rather than us dealing enough damage.
Does this still count as a kill or does that remove that kill from us?

Hey Spikey, just done some very quick research. Played stage 3 twice, once letting the exploding ooze explode due to proximity, and one where I exploded them via damage. Kept everything else exactly the same, there was a difference of 5 kills, and I got the genocide bonus on the second run. So it seems that it doesn't actually count if they explode because of proximity as opposed to damage.
