Resident Evil 6 does the extra content giving "The history of RESIDENT EVIL" explain everything to me?

i was a late comer to the series and only began at resident evil 4, i dont have the time to play all the other games of the past though i might get a chance to buy the HD chronicles on psn sometime but otherwise, will the history of resident evil in the menu explain the vital details of the history for resident evil 6 to make sense because it seems to be more associated with the history than re 5?

im asking in this forum because peopel visit here more frequently than re5

If you play both Dark Side Chronicles and the Umbrella Chronicles, it won't tell you EXACTLY what happened but it pretty much will with a few plot changes. It will make RE6 make sense though. If you are wanting to buy those games because you want to buy RE6 and have it make sense, just watch the games on youtube or look them up on the residentevil.wkia.com .
