Resident Evil 5 does the extra content giving "The history of RESIDENT EVIL" explain everything to me?

i was a late comer to the series and only began at resident evil 4, i dont have the time to play all the other games of the past though i might get a chance to buy the HD chronicles on psn sometime but otherwise, will the history of resident evil in the menu explain the vital details of the history for resident evil 6 to make sense because it seems to be more associated with the history than re 5?

Honestly... No. Pretty much the only thing your gonna learn is the characters. But honestly go head and get RE6. the good thing about resident evil is you dont need to know history cause they explain anything you need to know in that game. so yeah.
