So I've owned my RE5 game since the game was released- never had a problem with it- EVER. I beat the game; got all the upgraded weapons, costumes, etc.

A few days ago I went to play a little mercenaries- only to find that I couldn't. The menu that came up for me only would let me choose to start a whole new game (like I never beat it before). So I checked my PS3 save data and came to find that my whole RE5 game-play file was "corrupted". The trophies that I earned were still perfectly fine; it was only my game-play that was corrupted.

I ended up deleting the file that read "corrupted" because I wasn't sure what it was exactly and didn't want it to mess up my system and the other saved files that I had from other games and figured I would just replay the game over again and hopefully wouldn't have anything to worry about.

I finally beat the game again yesterday and tried to test it out a little more today only to find that the game has become very glitch-y.

As I played as Sheva, Chris would just stand around at some points (only moving if you called him) and then other points he would run ahead of you like an idiot (while in cover mode). The camera felt really funny in some parts and also- you know how some of the weapons can be seen on the characters back when unequipped? Well random weapons that I didn't even have in the inventory would be on their backs. lol

It's just strange and this all started after my game-play file was corrupted. Some of those things happened before- here and there- but not as frequent or even at the same time like it's doing now.

I'm just curious if anyone has heard of this or has had it happen to them? Anyone possibly know why all of the sudden the saved file became corrupted? I don't play online or anything so I'm at a loss on what it could be. I don't think its my system because none of the other games that are saved seem to have anything wrong with them.... blah

I don't know if this is why it happened, but I think that you must have turned off your system while it was saving. That or you tooken out the memory device while it was saving.

Yikes! Nope, can't say I've experienced anything like that. I'd be so bummed! Nothing can be allowed to come between me and my Chris quota! :D

Hmm IDK, it's definitely a possibility at this point though. I want to say that I didn't turn my system off while it was saving though- I'm usually pretty good about that and sadly I don't have a memory stick for the system (but am seriously considering getting one now! heh).

Looks like I'll be trading in this one for the Gold Edition coming out then if it keeps this up- it seemed fine while I was replaying it only after I beat it and started playing as Sheva did it becoming glitchy. I just hope the data from this game won’t have any negative effects on the Gold Edition and how it plays...?

Oh tis is a sucky feeling and its kind of funny because at first I was thinking "well I can replay it and get awesome scores and blah blah blah" but then as you're playing it you begin to realize just how much time and effort it took to get where you were before!

I lost all my data once, took my xbox hard drive to my mates but his xbox was saying I needed to recover my gamertag. It was really anoyying when I got home it seemed to work like a few days later lol I even started a new game and new gamertag as well haha!

sometimes you gotta be careful with those consoles!! but data can get currupted for no reason at all, and I also think that if that happens it shoudl be able to fix its self lol!

Did you ever backup any of your RE5 data? Just wondering if the backup data would restore your old settings. :\

I have mine backed up on a thumb drive. I back it up every time I get a new trophy etc.

Well that really sucks if it does this for no reason.

Well what happened was the file got corrupted and after 15 minutes of trying to see if I could get it back myself I ended up just deleting it because
1. I wasn't sure what was going on; the whole "file corrupted" got me nervous for my system and
2. I'm an idiot. lol

After I deleted it I then decided to call Sony and found out, after the fact, that I could have still retrieved the data back if I didn't delete it.. so a warning if this happens to anyone: Don't delete it. Unfortunately the guy couldn't answer me on why files randomly get corrupted.

I am happy to say that the game seems to be running alright now though! The glitches seem to be gone so I feel better about it.

But yeah I plan on getting a memory stick some time after the Holidays when I don't have to spend my money on everyone else. haha

Thank you guys for giving your input on it and trying to help! It is greatly appreciated. :)
