Hi guys!

We had some amazing success with the in January, and now that everything has settled behind the scenes and running as expected, I would desperately love to see the Resident Evil Community modernised and made more awesome. And I'm interested to see how fast we can accomplish this.

During the January appeal, we were able to raise the funds for the new redesign in two weeks, and access to XenForo (the forum software we use) v2.0 in less than 24-hours thanks to a single, crazy-awesome donation by a single person. From fundraising to launch, everything flew by in approximately four weeks, but as I am already familiar with the new engine and interface, I know that the process can be made even faster.

Here is a breakdown of the funds we need in order to make v2.0 happen:

- Access to a brand new style: ($20 w/ discount)
- Renewal of XenForo license and access to v2.0: ($40)

Customisation will be made to the Omni style to give it a distinct look in keeping with the Resident Evil series.

There are a ton of , but here's a handful that I feel are the most worth mentioning:

- Much more mobile-friendly and optimised for smart devices.
- Infinitely better anti-spam defences - something which we have been in need of for some time to really help take the load off Romero and LFF
- Super fancy, super modern interface and much more responsive load times

There is no time limit for this upgrade and redesign; any and all monies donated from today to the point we reach $60 will remain in the kitty until we have the funds to pay for both items simultaneously. If you are interested in donating and helping us to reach our goal as fast as possible, then consider donating directly to [email protected] or our page. The latter is a little more streamlined, though.

Please also contact me via email or PM if you decide to donate using my personal email address so I know who to attribute the donation to and whom to thank.

Thank you so much to everybody who considers donating. It might take a while before we get there, but it's going to be worth it. Feel free to fire away with any questions! Cheers, Resi fans!

We've just received our first donation of $7.50, and we're well on our way to our $60 target! But I have not yet been contacted by the awesome person responsible. Thank you, generous-anonymous person!

Edit: Unfortunately, this donation had to be withdrawn, but that's still cool! Thank you trying!

Just now received another awesome £20 donation from another generous donator! I'm just checking in with them to see if they're cool with a personal shoutout, but we're well over halfway now!

Great news, gang! @blivvy and @Jen have taken us over the goal amount! We now have what we need to gain access to XenForo v2.0 and a base for the new redesign! I'm over the moon with how fast we were able to reach this point!

Truly, thank you to those whom have donated. I'm currently in the process of getting the necessary graphics designed and getting everything ready for launch ASAP. Watch this space, more news to follow, I'm sure!

Don't forget to let @Loki, @blivvy and @Jen know how awesome they are! We wouldn't be in a place to upgrade and roll out some fancy new features were it not for these three!

Quick update: I'm considering temporarily recycling some old currently-in-use images from here in order to hasten the upgrade. If any of you guys were around for the devilmaycry.org upgrade, you'll know that we utilised a similar method and continually updated graphics as we went along, so effectively the new features will be ready right away, but the design overhaul will be somewhat staggered.

If I do decide to go this route, the upgrade should be right around the corner...

Please feel free to share those opinions!

Thank you anonymous, Loki, unknown, blivvy, and Jen for making the upgrade happen! I really look forward to not having to cleanse around 10-20 spammers a day. <3

Steve, is Omni an addon?

@Romero Omni is a brand new style framework, so not only will we sport a brand new look and feel, but customisation options will also be much more extensive.

I'm so pleased that the upgrade went well and that you guys are liking the new look and feel! Again - this would not have been possible without those incredible donations! There's still a lot to do, but we're getting there slowly. I'm looking forward to getting more custom graphics integrated into the style, and because we're now using the latest version of XenForo, it means that what's left of the kitty can be put towards additional features, with one of the more top priority ones being a brand spanking new news delivery system.

Last Friday, I was hoping to make a thorough news post regarding the restructuring of the Resident Evil Games forum. The move towards the current system was very much a spur of the moment affair, but I think that for now it is the best solution for us. Effectively, the new system combines all of the Resident Evil gaming forums into a single forum, with topics pertaining to different games being assigned a category (or 'prefix') to denote which game the thread is covering. I feel that this method will help introduce people to RE games that they might not have given much thought to before, and will help rejuvenate discussion of games that were starting to flounder, as we aren't a super huge community and when a forum shows that nothing new has been posted for a few days (or weeks or months) can be enough to put people off visiting there. The 'prefix' system also means that in the event that our popularity blows, we can move back to a per-forum basis for each game if we really want to without any major effort.

Please let me know what you think, gang! Hope I was able to explain that whole Resident Evil Games forum update well enough - I'm a little pressed for time at the moment.

Since my request was lost due to the recent technical issues, here it is again:

I find it hard to tell the read and unread threads apart within subforums, because depending on the device or screen I'm using, the bold red letters don't really stand out against the normal red letters. Could something be done to make the difference more noticeable?

Otherwise great work, still enjoying the new design!

Bots keep posting spam. Can you not add a word or picture game, or some other verification tool to prevent them from registering?

@Cure Zombrex Sorry for the late response. I posted a response in another thread but this one somehow passed me by. Effectively, prior to activating an image 'captcha,' we were using Google's 'reCAPTCHA 2' which as far as I'm aware is the current best of the best; regardless, we're trying out the alternate captcha system.
