For awhile now, I've been meaning to get into the Doctor Who series. So my question is do I need to start from the very beginning when it originally aired in 1963, or can I start with the 2005 relaunch? Will I miss the most of the story if I don't start with the very beginning?

You can pretty much start with the relaunch. There is some history but alot of it is updated and recovered in the series.
