Revelations 2 Thoughts on Moira

OK, I want to start out by saying, If anyone has done a thread about this already I apologize. I would also like to say that these are just my opinions. You can agree or not. I just thought this was a fun topic to explore a little and some SPOILERS SO IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED REV 2 STOP READING NOW. OK I want to start off by saying a liked Moira. I read reviews and It seems the reaction is a little mixed on her. I would also like to say I hate when I read a review and It's clearly by someone whose never played Resident Evil before even though they act like they have. I think shes the first character Capcom has introduced that actually grows and develops throughout the the same game. It was nothing huge or groundbreaking but It was nice to see them do it because most of the time new characters get little to no development. Some of the reviews mention the cursing as one of the reasons they don't like her, but If you think about her age and the situation shes in, wouldn't you be somewhat the same way. I think they also gave a possibility of bringing her back with the way the Epilogue ended. They could do something like Alex fully awakens in Natalia and since she kind of helped raise her it's more personal. That's just one possibility and probably not the most original lol but that was just an example. I will say maybe some of the writing was bad at times, but I think the voice actress did well with what she was given. Anyways I just wanted to get the topic started and see what people think about this I could of gone a little more into detail so If you want to hear more about what I think let me know. I'm curious to know what other people think about Moira and possibility of her character in future games. This is just my opinion and a nice little topic to explore and have fun thinking about. Nothing to be taken to seriously feel free to agree or disagree. I just ask If you do disagree don't be an ass about it lol.

I agree.
Her character was unique and hasn't been explored in a re title before.
It really gave her a personality which you could see grow during the struggle.
During the struggle she even monologues some things which a re title hasn't done before either which gives more personal insight.
I must admit I didn't think much to her going through the gsme, just a moody teen with obvious issues.
Then:
In barrys final chapter, the good ending where she reunites with barry, I couldn't help but smile at the conversations between them

I really liked Moira. It made a change to have someone with a more distinct personality. People complain about her swearing but to me it's realistic, there are some people who speak like that, and they're also in a situation where their lives are being threatened. I don't swear much but if I was in that situation I would be swearing like a sailor.

She did act a little moody at times but I think that was largely to accentuate how the breakdown of her relationship with Barry had affected her. There was also a vulnerability about her, a sweetness when she talks to Natalia, a caring attitude towards her family and obvious affection towards Barry at the end and during The Struggle. That creates diversity in her character. She isn't two-dimensional at all, she's very realistic and that's why I like her.

As for possibility of her being in future games... I'm not sure. There is scope for it, I suppose, with the whole Natalia thing and if she continues working for Terra Save. I think I would prefer it to be within the Revelations series, though.

I love Moira. I don't get why people hate her just because she swears a lot. Try living with my mom! xD
It's possible we'll see her again, but you never know with Capcom. The epilogue makes me think Moira and/or Barry will also be in another game, with Natalia of course, and Claire. But maybe not all of them together.

I totally loved Moira, how can anyone even hate her? She was awesome and had a great character development in this game unlike other certain characters of RE throughout the series*coughs*Chris Redfield*coughs*.
People complain that she was swearing... well that's just part of her personality, but honestly I liked it, it made her realistic and not like a robot. I swear a lot, too xD So I kind had a connection with her. Despite all her swearing, she had a soft/kind and caring side as well.

I hope she appears in future RE titles and won't fall into oblivion like Rebecca, Carlos&Co.
We need more people like her in RE

I don't think I like Moira as much as everyone else here. I don't hate her, I actually like her well enough, except when she's talking about Berry. For so much of the game they play this 'I hate Barry' bit so much that for a while I thought that was her one defining feature, next to the overly, borderline silly, levels of cussing. For the longest time Capcom had absolutely no cursing in their games but it looks like they're trying to make up for all the years they missed out on with a single character with such a foul mouth you'd think her parents raised her exclusively on South Park and Quinten Tarentino movies.

If it wasn't for her special episode I'd brush it all off as rather shallow. It helped establish a more rewarding narrative for her daddy issues when she managed to resolve, or at least confront them, with Evg-- Evegi--... Evgaligan? With the Russian old man. I have no special love for Moira but she is a fun addition and if Revelations continues I hope to see her make a comeback in the future. Now that she's not afraid of guns I wonder what her role in gameplay would be, then.

Meh, I don't really like Moira. I'm sure that she has her fans, but i'm not one of them, mostly because in my opinion, her constant cursing and hatred for Barry gets annoying real quick. She does has her moments, but they were not enough.

I've heard that she doesn't curse (or at least not as much) in the japanese version, but I don't know if that's true.
I've always wanted to find out though.

She doesn't. Japanese is a uniquely polite language and while they do have slang, vulgar, and swear words they don't compare to most other languages. You can set the audio to Japanese but I think the subtitles are the same, no matter what language you're on, I'll have boot up the game to find out. If I remember right she doesn't swear in the Spanish version either. (I haven't played the whole game in Spanish because I prefer Latino over Castellan Spanish and only 3 games, ever, have Latino Spanish) Anyway, I'm in the middle of Platinuming RE6, I'm only missing 2 trophies, so after that I'll check up REv2.

Different cultures. That's all there is too it. Languages and cultures are like musical genres, to do the same thing they go about it in very different directions.

Why do people have issues with a character cursing when they're in a messed up situation?

I don't, I actually like it, but I was curious about it since most people seems to hate Moira for it.
But tbh I don't understand it either, since that's just one of the many traits that define her.

Oh, I see, thank you for your response! :D
It doesn't really matter but: In the italian version she curse as well, but that version is full of mistakes (so much so, that even some trophies descriptions are wrong).
Anyway it's nice to finally know the truth. xD

P.S.: Good Luck with your Platinum! You can do it! :)

Ummm.....:confused::question::question:

I wonder if that hate is indicative of something else. Maybe it's related to DmC. Dante from DmC might be the reason people dislike Moira to a small degree. He might've left a bitter after taste in their mouths and by association through Capcom they might see a correlation or connection. A lot of people who hate Dante, myself included, have often said that Dante's dumb and juvenile cursing was a huge reason they hated the character. I wonder if those people would still hate her if DmC hadn't happened.

Now that I think about it, I saw people calling her 'the female Dante'.

I like both Dante and Moira, so... yeah. I found RE6 Jake to be much more similar to Dante than Moira, though.

Really? I thought he had more in common with Nero, down to the origin of a villain's son. I can see the resemblance but I find the connection a bit wonky considering how Dante is the interpretation of a character from an outside studio's perspective while Nero and Jake are Capcom territory all the way.
