i'm sure you can. it's possible to kill tyrant in re1 without the rocket launcher. both bosses can also dodge the rockets, so i assume the rocket launcher is just a quick way to end it.

it is the easiest. each character has their advantages. in my opinion leon is easiest with his custom guns, despite the disgusting recoil. but then again claire gets the g. launcher which in turn has grenades just as powerful. both can end up getting the sub machine gun. 1 in the basement area...
