I've got to ask because in the Transformers forums I've seen identical hatred being poured toward Michael Bay, so whom of the 2 is hated the most or are both equally loathed by the fans of the respective franchises?

You missed out Uwe Boll: House of The Dead, Alone In The Dark, Bloodrayne anyone?XDD
They three together are probably the worst directors Hollywood has ever produced.

Though, *gulp* I must admit I enjoyed one Paul WS Anderson movie (unbelievable I know): 'The Sight' was kind of decent.

I wish I could kidnap them both, make them watch all the movies and then....

Play a game.

I never understood the hate for Bay. What did he do, I seriously don't know. All I know is he directed Transformers and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (the remake)

And House of the Dead, directed by Uwe Boll, had to have been the crappiest movie I've ever seen.

I agree...House of the Dead was NOTHING like the games...Of ALL movies based on video games it was by FAR the worst...

Transformers 1: Not bad at all, a very good and well made and created movie with creative use of comedy and CGI.
Transformers 2: What the hell? All the same. Fighting, fighting, fighting. Rubbish storyline.
Transformers 3: Could not even put myself up to seeing this piece of trash.

Realises transformers 4 might be coming to begin a new trilogy. Talk about overkill.

I haven't seen any of the Transformers movie's. Is this why Michael Bay is hated?

Despite the fact that I think Anderson may be a cool person to chat with (I mean he is a fan of both the RE series as well as the Alien/Predator franchises) his movies are just crap.

Afterlife was GARBAGE and the fact that the movie was specifically made for 3D made it worse with all the bad, slow motion, CGI shots. What a damn waste.

He's given the chance to make RE films as well as an AVP flick and they all have turned out nothing short of disappointing. The awful writing, mediocre to terrible acting, and all around poor execution of concepts is what makes me so frustrated with his work. I probably should have voted for him but I chose "both".

I wouldn't say I "hate" them personally because, as I've said, Anderson would probably be a fun guy to chat with, but I do hate his work.

He has, however, made one good movie and that was Event Horizon. I watch that movie and all I can wonder is how the hell the guy dropped the ball with AVP.

AVP was alright...It wasn't special, but it wasn't bad...Now, Requiem sucked...You're right about the acting...But that's horror movies in general...

Writing and character wise, AVP definitely surpasses Requiem, no doubt about that. But looking at it alone, he should have made it a lot more claustrophobic and gothic. It was too similar to the cheesy comics (which admittedly are fun to read) but it should have been based more on the actual Alien and Predator flicks instead. The PG-13 rating didn't help.

AVP is probably his second best movie with the first Resident Evil movie coming in third (that's not saying much!).

I've seen my share of well acted horror flicks though (to name a few: The Shining, 28 Days Later, [REC], Alien, Blaire Witch Project). I think it's just his movies in general.

Sure, the well acted ones are out there...But they're very rare...And you're right...PG-13 TOTALLY didn't help cause all the Alien AND Predator movies are R rated...Frankly, I found the first one VERY claustrophobic...Gothic, no not really...But frankly I didn't see Predator or Alien as Gothic so it's ok...

Not really, there's a lot of poorly acted horror/slasher flicks but there's also enough well acted ones. Also directors have a huge impact on how well their actors do for a movie.

Alien and Alien 3 both have very dark/gothic environments, especially with the main creature and some of the environments being based off of Giger artwork. It was something Anderson could have worked with when they designed the alien pyramids.

IMO they're probably as bad as each other.

Apparently Michael Bay is going to Reboot the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in film that he is behind. They're no longer going to start out as pets... but aliens.

Uwe Boll is another director that needs a size 10 up his butt. Having said that, I did enjoy the BloodRayne films (Especially BloodRayne 2: Deliverance)
