Internet forums can be good entertainment, but also very toxic.
Indeed. But everywhere where many humans meet have a high risk of becoming toxic. Much comes from misunderstandings. The language barrier is so much bigger when you can't see the other person, it's not JUST that people feel safer to act as assholes when they can hide behind the keyboard, but the anonymity is a very big factor also.

You have the saying of "not being on the same page". Heck, many of us are not even on the same continent.

Thinking of all this makes me love animals even more.

The sad truth is, many people are just ignorant and willfully stupid. It's not just on the internet either. Humans just aren't open to the idea of being wrong or coexisting with others. People are very tribal and set in their ways and it translates onto the internet. Without law and order, people show you their true colors.

So, depression has only been culturally and historically accepted relatively recently right? So that got me thinking...Imagine having depression as an ancient Aztec. Like, the most sacrifice happy culture in human history. Could there be a BETTER time to have depression? When people get sacrificed on Tuesday's for lol's. Or, maybe it's even worse to have depression then. I imagine the chief is like, "Alrighty, who wants to be this weeks sacrifice?," and some dude who hates his life just sorta sheepishly raises his hand like, "Sure...Whatever...I'll do it. I f*ckin' wanna die..." But then there's some dude like two rows over who DOESN'T have depression and he's just jumping up and down like "Me! Me! Me! Choose me to sacrifice chief! Me!" And so the chief chooses him and the original Aztec guys is just like," Mother f*cker...I can't even be granted death in a society that is literally IN LOVE with giving people death." And so his depression just gets even worse...

CT how much I love Jason Momoa and believe that he could be an excellent live action Kratos... However also thinking that now that I've seen this I can't unsee it.

Triple H is Dad of Boy. Change my mind.

My tech school teacher dressed as Kratos for Halloween one year and his wife painted on the red tattoos. He looked JUST like Kratos, it was awesome. He's all into costumes/cosplays and filmmaking.

CT1:
There's such irony to being a glasses-wearer sometimes.

This morning I woke up and went to put my glasses on to find that they weren't where I usually put them, so I start looking around for them. I have very poor eyesight so this was a challenge, and the one thing that would have made the task easier were the very thing that I was looking for. Like I said, irony.

CT2:
As I typed this, my brain saw a pun. Hehe, eye-rony....

I get between 7-7.5 hours of sleep each night and I feel great. If I take a 25 minute nap, I feel like a Dementor is sucking on my lips for hours and I can't wake myself all the way up. It's a nightmare.

Every kid who has not been socialising for the last 6/7 months due to lockdown is now back at school. Surprise, surprise - they've all caught colds. And now the schools are panicking that every sniffle means Covid and are sending kids home needlessly.

Not like there are any tests available anyway and the mythical "mobile testing unit" appears to be just that - a myth.

At least the special schools are being sensible: they check Jake's temperature twice a day and base everything off that. Because they know it's sniffle season approaching and common sense needs to prevail. Honestly, what do people expect after months of isolation??

I heard on news that covid patients often suddenly and completely loses the senses of taste and smell, even if their airways are open as usual. I'm thinking that the loss of these senses should be a good indicator. But not a secure one.

My brother got Covid and he lost his taste and smell also, and he had the really high fever and difficulty breathing. And a hellacious craving for chocolate lol.

I will say that I think people experience this differently. My taste and smell went suddenly when I was ill at the beginning of April (and my smell still hasn't fully returned - maybe about 70% there), but it was over a week after my initial temperature and body aches and a few days after my cough and breathing difficulties developed. So by the time you lose your sense of smell and/or taste, it could be that you've had COVID longer than you think.

I wish testing was available when I was sick. I'm convinced I had COVID but I'd have preferred to know for sure that I absolutely had to self-isolate.

I can understand caution, but I think sending kids home with a sniffle is extreme. There definitely has to be a common sense approach.

I didn't even know these were a thing. I've never heard of anyone using them either, so you're probably right that they don't exist. Shame, because it would be so useful.

My roommate freaked out thinking I had covid because I sneezed 14 consecutive times in under 2 minutes. No bro. No covid. It's changing from summer to fall. My allergies are in full swing. I do feel like dying though. So I have that in common with covid.

Yes people have very different experiences with covid. Many are not very ill or not ill at all, but in any case, if you lose the senses of taste and smell even if you can breathe through your nose, covid should be suspected. These symptoms are not very common with normal colds/flu unless the nasal airways are blocked. And if you lose taste and smell and also have the other symptoms you mentioned, that also are typical for covid, I'd wager it is covid. If I had that I wouldn't even bother with testing unless I had to test.

Sending kids with a sniffle home is extreme, but it may be necessary if there is any doubt of what is causing it. It may be a harmless virus or the killer virus. But it will be a problem if almost everybody has a sniffle yes.

Haha! I have pollen allergy so I know how it is. A virus don't make you sneeze many times in a row, but an allergic reaction can cause that.
I'm sorry you are so badly affected I hope it gets better soon.
