Resident Evil 2 ‘1-Shot Demo’ coming this week, allows 30 mins of gameplay
Gamers have been lamenting the disappearance of game demos as pre-order incentives have muscled their way in over the past several years, but it would seem that what was once old is now new again as Capcom seeks to unleash an interesting spin on the playable demo angle.
Coming to Steam, PSN and the Xbox Games Store on January 11 and available through to January 31, the Resident Evil ‘1-Shot Demo’ will afford gamers the opportunity to complete a segment of the game in 30 minutes or less in order to view an ‘exclusive trailer’ for your efforts. Assuming the role of Leon S. Kennedy, players will be required to brave the horrors of the Raccoon City Police Department and solve mind-bending puzzles in order to make good their escape before the time runs out. Death will result in a return to the start of the mission, but the clock will not be reset; whatever time that was lost will not be returned to the player and will mean that any subsequent attempts will need to be tackled double quick. Upon successful completion of the objective, players will be able to view the coveted trailer and even be entitled to an additional playthrough until the time expires. The trailer, however, can be viewed unlimited times irrespective of remaining time.
Resident Evil 2 is due for release on all major gaming platforms on January 25, 2019.
