Resident Evil - Code: Veronica So, why did Capcom not call this RE 4?

Hey all - just started playing, but can tell its a pretty major arc in the RE series.

This is ancient history, but what inspired capcom to not call this just RE4?

Well, Nemesis was originally supposed to be the non-numbered one, but they wanted the main PlayStation games to be consistent, so they just switched them around, meaning it was in development at the same time, so it would've been weird to have 3 and 4 come out so closely together I guess, and it makes sense that the original 3 isn't 4, but is basically beside 3 instead.

Interesting, thanks for the info. yeah, the timeframe of the releases would have been weird if it was called RE4

Good game so far, but strangely fugly..........and the character models look good, but very static poses.......
