Director's Cut Quick Question

Just completed the game on advanced on the ps classic and says I should have unlocked the unlimited colt python aka magnum but when I start a new games its not in my inventory or in the item box, what gives ?

Can I use it in all modes or do I have to continue from a previous save ?

So from what I read when searching for this online, after it says you've unlocked the unlimited Colt Python you have to save the game then load that game save and it will be in your inventory. I also gathered that this is only for use in Arrange Mode once unlocked.
