Whats next for RE7?

From what I have been reading online from the producers or the Resident Evil series it seems the "action route" is still going to be fully upheld which has my hopes for the series pretty darn low.

From a business standpoint I understand given RE5 and RE6 sales, but as a fan I feel I may have to sit RE7 out since I have had enough of Resident Evil games not actually being survival horror anymore.

The Evil Within despite its flaws proved that survival horror is still a profitable genre, it just sucks that Capcom still wants to shoot for Call of Duty numbers while at the same time forsaking the genre they helped revolutionized.

I purchased RE5 and was disappointed in the end and RE6's only good campaign was Leon and even then it wasn't that great.

So if Capcom is going to continue with this "dramatic horror" genre they are trying to coin in now I will be sticking stictly to side titles like Revelations.

Twice! Resident Evil revolutionized horror themed games and invented survival horror, and Resident Evil 4 revolutionized third-person shooters and laid the ground work for how many horror games would play in the coming generation. (The "eccentricities" of the more action orientated, totally unscary Resident Evils need not apply)

But it really is frustrating to see Capcom try to assuage a group of gamers that weren't in any danger of being the least bit f*cking interested, but Resident Evil 5 beat Street Fighter II in sheer amount of sales and RE6 is fighting SF2 for that second place slot, if IGN is to be believed, so what do I know, right?

They could easiky do both, having certain parts or scenarios survial horror and others shoot em up.or oike have a survivor node where you have to slink through somewhere dark and creepy with limited itens, etc to earn upgrades and bonuses and nee weapons and all that.it can be do e

It's too early to tell but my guess is Capcom will yet again make another action game with attempts at horror. They can say what they want, but it doesn't mean any of it matters in the end. Right now, Capcom seems content with Revelations being the go-to-game for hardcore fans which is a huge disappointment to this hardcore fan because even Revelations doesn't seem to know what it's doing. The first was originally a portable experience and the second is now an episodic semi-co-op experience. For something that's meant to be satisfying survival horror fans, the Revelations series sure seems to be branching out before it has even nailed the survival horror thing down...

With that said, I still think there's a lot of potential for Resident Evil 7 to be a great game without being a survival horror game. Yes, I still think it is important for the series to be dark and have things jump out at you and create situations you may not always be prepared for but it can still be a fun cinematic game that appeals to most gamers while maintaining its identity as Resident Evil. I feel co-op has really been a crutch for this series recently and given the so-called inspiration from The Last of Us and Tomb Raider, one can only hope Capcom is willing to drop the second player in favor of a more isolated slower paced (but still action-packed) ordeal. Honestly, this gothic action thing wouldn't be such a bad direction if Capcom actually knew how to execute it and if Revelations wasn't such a bland survival horror game.

The frqnchise can satisfie both parties. It's what re2 and 3 did.it wws survival horror, but gunning through the city.It can be done.
As for Re4 was still kinda scary.I have to say re5 was the worse.it doesn't even fit.best thing about the game was that i do like the push button commands in games and sheva and josh were awesome.like, it didn't fit.and urobiros came outta nowhere, period.(not just wesker turninh from sociopath to psychopath bent on world domination).c virus at least came from g and t abyss, sherry a returning character was in Simmons' care, re6 has pieces that fit.Lord Spencer was huge dissapointment, Alex Wesker has potential.5 was just like, 'wut?'

Also in 6, sheva isn't even mentioned and where the **** is jill?

Also, if got busted for the damn arms deal and you had to contend with spencer or alex as the main enemy, while wesker pulls a code veronica on your ass, it woulda made more sense...(also could've turned into an option to play as wesker.if that wouldn't sell a resident evil game, what would?)

Can re7 retcon it, pleeze?

okay done with the rant...

As for revelations it was kinda meh.I think 7 can be a chance to bring something.new ro the table.Re1, re2, re4 and even re6 did something fun.re7 might just be it

Heres what they should do.... they need to focus on jill and what happened to her after africa if you think about it the last games had all the main characters in them besides jill re6 had leon ada sherry and chris rer2 has got claire and barry so re7 has to be with jill and no partnering with her anyone she needs to be alone

I would like to see jill discuss her 'recovery ' (i mean you don't come out of a situation lije that alright) but resident evil is not a drama so we wilk not get this

You never know with capcom but id like to see something like jill being on a mission and the things that happened in the past affect her maybe flashbacks in that 3 years she was presumed dead or something but like i said before i think it will be jill since shes the only main character they havent used since 6 but we will see

Yeah everyone seems to forget about rebecca, past the RE 0 and her part in RE 1 there isnt any sign of her ever besides her desk in the STARS office.

Would anyone be willing to settle with a reboot of the RE story, or just a RE game with new characters, setting, etc? I'd like one, even if the sole purpose of it is to see Capcom's creativity and all that unique stuff.

As for RE7:
I'm gonna keep my hopes high that Capcom brings something to the table, something that's so good you can find it under the text book definition of survival horror, like bacon. My expectations include two things which wouldn't change my opinion if they weren't included,
* Ink ribbon's or for more modern use, SD cards or RAM or something.

I would like them to at least get back to the atmosphere it used to have, creepiness, puzzles, but keep the shooting perspective from RE4 and up, makes it easier to headshot the zombies when you realize destroying the head is the way to go, and even if its not zombies for the next one it still adds more realism to it, but RE4 kept some of the puzzle aspect that 5 and 6 tossed out, its one of the things that made RE interesting

I only recall two puzzles in Resident Evil 5 & 6. One of which I'm even sure is a puzzle.
- Resident Evil 5 - The sunlight lasers and stone slabs
- Resident Evil 6 - The narrow crawl space and the circular saws

yes! Puzzles were a core elenent, especially resident evil 1.i remember nost of them too, that's the fun part.

You know what's scary though?

In hindsight all those puzzles made it seem like they were being tested

I'LL GIVE YOU STARS!
They need to just remake 2 and 3 already, so that they can get an idea of how they should make Resident Evil 7. They need to incorporate the camera angles and the scary music, with awesome graphic cut scenes. and atmosphere. Imagine, Mr. X comin at you in first person view, in the police station. Or a licker crawling after yo ass. That would be scary. Has anyone seen the reborn videos?
